It was the animations of the arcade in Mother 2, even though that girl is clearly 18! Guess I won't make such things in the future. Here is a random remake of Snow White I made from the SNES game that no one ever played. Analysis - Three main problems I have with the original image: Let's just ignore the fact that neither looks anything like Snow White. 1. Full on profile stance facing right instead of 3/4ths view. This is something you see in a lot of AMIGA style games and random platformers. For me, it's quite a cursed way to do a sprite. Simply changing to 3/4ths view fixes a lot of my problems with it. 2. Strange color choices for the face of a character named Snow White. Changed the whole palette ramp and slightly lightened the red which had bad contrast with the purple. 3. Face was 8 pixels tall from chin to forehead, but eye was only 1 pixel tall. In this style I think it's best to have eyes be at least 20 to 25% of the face. Lesser problems 4. The shading of the hair had no meaning. Even on an old CRT TV it would just look like a very dark blue color. 5. Don't know what the extremely bulky purple shoulder thing was. Changed to a more feminine-looking shawl thing. The red on the shoulders had no contrast so just got rid of it. 6. Changed arm position to better communicate her personality as a princess. 7. There's more than enough colors in her palette to where the shoes don't need to be completely black. 8. The dress was fine as it was. Could be better converted to 3/4ths but that would be a lot more work.
