[Early Access] Why We Keep Retelling Persephone's Story

Due to the deadline I had for the sponsorship this video will only be up a few hours earlier instead of a full day. I apologize for that. I also realized that A LOT of people want my in depth takes on Lore Olympus so I might right a long comment and just pin it lol.

As for my hiatus, it'll be until the 17th of January so a full month off.

I will still be posting on here my writing and my extra Patreon material (because I can't quit y'all) but I will be mostly just be trying to get better and work on this damn book.

We are gonna have a lot of fun stuff coming soon and I can't wait to ring in the New Year with y'all.

p.s. the only thing I would tweak is removing any background music (you don't need it) and recording louder (I'm maxed on YT volume and device volume but it isn't loud enough for me). THANK YOU AGAIN. xo

Sufiness

Thanks for all you're doing! Keep up the great work!

Such a great episode! I look forward to a rewatch after reading Lore 😘. One of my fave depictions of Persephone in recent years is in Hailey Turner’s Soulbound series. She isn’t the main character but her presence in the MC’s life is powerful, beautiful and tragic. The dichotomy of her nature and the fact that in this series she is the one stripping a person of his agency for the love of her daughter is so engaging. The series follows the MC as he deals with gods from a diverse amount of pantheons and the audio is *chef’s kiss*. You might really enjoy it.

Re: women escaping situations by getting married, I do think there are some modern instances where that’s still applicable, like when one person needs a visa to remain in the country or for health insurance. Maybe not as extreme as most historical examples but there’s totally still privilege & protection to be gained via marriage regardless of whether someone wants to actually get married Loved the video! So good and I’m gonna look up the books I didn’t know

This reminds me of the story of the frog and the scorpion. The one where the frog helps the scorpion across a river. The ending most people know goes that the scorpion stings the frog and they both drown. Because a scorpion is a scorpion. But there are other versions: like the scorpion does nothing and the frog feels shame for his prejudice. Or the frog panics and drowns the scorpion unnecessarily. Or the frog sees it coming and drowns the scorpion in self-defense. It's not important which one is original. The story and ending change for each retelling because we tell the story we need to hear in that moment.

Oooh can’t wait to watch this when I have time!
