Alright in this new episode and the "official" second season of The Princess Diaries Patreon Podcast! Today we are gonna talk about the InuYasha spin-off Yashahime and discuss the whole issue between Sesshomaru and Rin's potential pairing and the issues it has brought up in the fandom.
(I apologize for the police cars in the back, still figuring out how to eliminate noise)
Love to hear your feedback,
Best

Legit joined this patroon just so I could get your spicy YashaHime takes! And yes I’m gonna comment on a post from nearly two months ago! Lol! I couldn’t agree more. Maybe this is a reach, but I feel like the discourse around this show has been akin to the “outrage” around the movie Cuties. Like let’s misplace our outrage onto the work of a woman of color from another country/culture and shame people who try to address its nuance. I think the sesh x run thing is weird, but I can appreciate that the show has greatness characters and a promising story.

OMG i appreciate your feedback so much! I enjoy hearing different perspectives and I don’t want my patrons to blindly agree with me. That’s not who I am as a creator so thank you 💕

I love your stuff btw! I'm glad to be a patron now, you have a lot of nuanced perspectives on things and you're good at looking at all side of things and getting your point across in a good way ^^ going through some of your recent stuff now on the patreon!

hm i have a lot of complex feelsing about this (well not this sequel specifically but the feelings). im on my phone so forgive me foe typos, lol.
as a person who has been on the "other side" (i do hate this whole vs thing honestly) so i will try to explain some stuff.
i did see discourse or whatever conversations i saw back some years ago were definitely about not letting predators feel safe in fandom spaces. a correlation was drawn between people who liked teen/adults ships or wife (or husband) husbandry among other things. so at the time it seemed reasonable in a bit of a similar way to talking about racism in fandom at the time, like focusing on how fandom des with and handles race as spposed to focusing solely on how the media fandom cosumes deals with race. i still think a lot of this comes from there, and i think its trying to apply a blanket way of thinking across the board.
(i have a zillion thoughts on this all kinda jumbled in my head but thats sorta rhe jist)
but i do think that its all been very twisted across all fandoms and that people on the whole dont want to have deep discussion or cant cause theyre talking on twitter.
more specifically about sesshomatu/rin i agree that its bad writing on the shows part. i also think theres hm...maybe an unwillungness or an uncomfortableness with the idea that peoples view of each other can change in that way. so the only "logical" reason it woukd happen is cause of grooming.
maybe i could say more lol, but thats all words i can muster. I hope like...any of that made sense.
