Dawn Fans Assemble!

I'm so sorry this took longer than I planned I had to film this FOUR times because something kept happening. I tried to add some chill music like the big youtubers do, but if you guys thing it sounds weird lemme know and I'll change it up!!! <33

I honestly had a hard time concentrating on what you were saying with the background music, somehow my brain always tried to focus on the music and the chords and not on your words. So in favor of the content I'd vote for no music in future videos but it's obviously your channel and you do whatever suits your work!

Also I so agree with you, Kendra got short shrift.

I love Dawn. I watched the series live and at first thought "what the hell, they just added a character with no explanation? How odd." And I couldn't wait to find out what her story was. And was not disappointed! Michelle was perfect for the role and so endearing. I actually wish I had stopped watching after Season 5. It was the strongest and the ending would have been perfect to finish the series.

Lol season 7 is the worst!!! I can't believe I finished it it was so bad. I actually think I agree on all your takes. I love Buffy. I think season one is fine. Dawn is wonderful and the sister relationship is the one of the best on the show and that does make 5 my favourite season. Willow and Xander are the worst. I think the only thing I don't agree with is the trio being the best big bads though I understand and agree with your points.

I know this video is only about the show but one of the things that really interests me about the Boom reboot is that Kendra is there and alive. I love her so much and I wish we had seen her develop more as a character (and live) in the show. The chance to see Kendra and Faith interact is such a missed opportunity since Buffy is supposed to be the perfect medium of the two in terms of listening to her instincts but also accepting help and advice from others.

-Absolutely, yes, having agency and choosing to be awful rather than simply being an embodiment of evil does make the trio worse as big bads as well as for some uncomfortable viewing. (I guess this is complicated by the existence of Spike but sssssshhhhh we'll call that the exception that proves the rule.) The show is actually explicit on this point when it comes to Faith's actions in Season 3! Buffy calls it out! But I can't help but view them as like. Fundamentally pathetic. These guys are *not* Faith, they weren't charmed into it anything after having a rough life. They just suck. Can't respect it. (I did like Andrew's whole come to the light thing in Season 8 fwiw) w/e 'bored now' FWOOSH -I did not like Season 4 either. Screw this...aggressively *boring* male lead/love interest (name? Chris? Paul? Kyle? some incredibly generic-ass thing), screw this goon squad shit, screw this tech garbage that just feels shoehorned into the show (not quite Crystal Skull-tier but similar? boneheadedness?), screw all of this. baleeted! S7 was...disappointing? the big bad should have been a lot more compelling given the concept...but then she...it...was just, meh, right? and oh man, I dunno about that ending. Otherwise the main problem is I don't even...remember it too well? Which wouldn't be the case if it were compelling somehow, even if I hated it. Agreed re S1. I've always kinda liked that random monster shit, tbqh. -(Shhhhhh I've never seen the movie don't tell nobody). Loved the Ava subtweet -Class protector! The first time that shit came on I *legit* started bawling. I am a ***notorious*** softie but that's absurd even for me. Sry not sorry, am a *complete* sucker for this kind of George Bailey shit. Probably this is part of why S3 is probably my fave one. Love -But who are those loud-ass kids lolz??? -Yeah I honestly haven't thought about Kendra her role or her death all that much, ty for this -I didn't know that about Cordelia (with all respect to Charisma Carpenter), what the actual fuck??? We're in the late 90s! Thank God they didn't have this problem in the next show, ffs. But yeah, the dearth of good black characters on show sucks, they coulda done it, they proved they were capable in next show, but no -I don't think I shipped them at the time, but completely memory-holed the sexual assault, which in my case is probably a good thing -(Yeah what even was that w/Jaime and Claire??? at the time I couldn't believe) -Yeah, I don't think they did the work for Buffy and Spike to work :/ -With Dawn...yeah I absolutely was thrown (I didn't see the show when it aired, but did see it without any spoilers), and I found her to be grating in the first few eps, but eventually got into it. And yeah Michelle Trachtenberg slaps and they should have given Dawn more to do later -Ofc 'The Body' was incredible, should have won multiple awards -Yeah the Xander/Dawn thing was...certainly a choice -Willow...I don't hate her (hard for me to hate The Geek (tm) in any show) but you're absolutely right, she makes soooooooooo many f#&% mistakes--the cheating, the resurrection - "Didn't think about that you asshole" lolz -I find I have memoryholed more of this show than I thought because I don't remember her deceiving Tara or memoryholing *her*...oh no... -The music stopping was a great touch, it had been going so long you eventually stop processing that it was there, and then bam! Love -Yeah, like I said way up earlier I have memoryholed S7 and now I am dreading it a little, but I guess my take is 'eh boring/underwhelming/doesn't seem to follow?' -(it is cool that this is my first sponsored vid ngl) -Not in the vid because it was about *content* rather than *presentation* and is hot takes but pls allow me this minirant--show *still* does not have a proper HD release despite having been shot on film, they decided to sometimes just open up the matte regardless of whatever garbage was in the frame (boom mics, props, cams, etc), sometimes to just truncate shots in order to fit the widescreen aspect ratio (the kind of shit literally nobody tolerates for movies now) *and*not give a rat's ass about the color timing and exposure so night shots sometimes look like day or are just too bright etc etc, everybody hold on tight to your big red box DVD sets because NONE of these stakeholders appear to give a shit about this, and y'all *know* that *checks cards* Disney ain't fixing it. It's just egregiously bad: https://www.facebook.com/notes/buffy-the-vampire-slayer-hd-blu-ray/whats-wrong-with-buffys-hd/590282824407343 Of course, the story elements are completely watchable in this new version but...if you could get a hold of the DVDs or a DVD-ripped version, I would go with that even with the lower resolution because the visual presentation is just like, finished as opposed to butchered. (It's NOT always like this by the way even IF you truncate/recrop for modern TVs: https://davidsimon.com/the-wire-hd-with-videos/ though I would also hold on to your DVD and DVD-ripped versions of The Wire too since I'm assuming this original version is basically lost). -Sorry for the digression and length but I took the license to actually say things v seriously, it is the opposite of usual. -Thank you for this vid, rly

This (excellent) video is resurrecting my feelings for the show and I have many feelings! So many (complicated) feelings! Probably will add more coherent thoughts tomorrow, but AAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!

Yay! That's rough that you had to film this so many times :/ I haven't watched it yet, but I bet it is worth it!
