The Wind Can GTFO [A Gone With the Wind Breakdown]

I wanted to take a look at the book 'Gone With the Wind', it’s writer, and it’s literary impact and ask the question: Do Black People Need to Read it? (Spoiler: nope)

Thank you for saying that. It is sometimes tiring to see one of the few symbols of your culture being presented as total opposite of their actual meaning or spending a second to learn some context behind the image.

Jakub Mike

I am actually aware of that. The image has become a popular meme know, which is what I was referencing by using it :)

Just a small comment about a video. When you spoke about the fool you used the painting of the fool ...quite famous painting. Title of it is Stańczyk and it depicts royal advisor to polish king, who was famous for his wisdom and wit, For decades he was considered personal friend of a king, had unlimited free speech, he could speak about anything to anyone, king included. He was not a fool, he was Tyrion Lannister of his universe, except without drinking and incompetence from later seasons.

Jakub Mike

Absolutely agreed.

As an English major, non-published (book) writer, and a book lover I agree that Gone with the Wind -the book- should not be banned. As a Black-DACS who had to endure a Spanish class in a majority white school I disagree with it being taught in grades K-12. Teach at a college-level with context.
