Came out when I was 9...my poor parents had to endure a good year or more of my very bad imitation of these guys, who had become my heros. Sigh, good times!!!

While not Keanu's first movie it was his first big hit. I believe it was actually only the 2nd or 3rd he'd done at this point.

Hi Bisscute 😊 from San Antonio Texas USA 😊 Wonderful reaction and analysis and commentary 😊👍 First off, I will give this movie a ⭐⭐⭐ as this is a movie that actors had to do to get some screen time early in their careers. Your reference of the movie seeming like Back to the Future is very apt and I would also add that it reminds me of Fast Times at Ridgemont High where a young Sean Penn began his acting career in 1982 and would be a great movie for you to react to because his character Jeff Spicoli is very close to Keanu Reeves' character. All in all I'm glad you enjoyed the movie as this was one of those movies in the 1980s that if you had nothing better to do and the movies were still cheap you can go in for a couple hours and have a good time. Thank you for all your hard work and I appreciate you so very much. Have a great day and God bless you with much love and prayers for strength and good health bye-bye 😊👍

This film was released in 1989, but actually was going to come out the previous year. It was filmed in 1987. In high school, my senior year, we actually got to watch this in class before school let out for the summer. Keanu had a reputation back then for not being very bright, but he’s a great example of the old adage, “judge slowly”. Perception isn’t always reality. If you listen to Keanu today, he’s very bright and extremely thoughtful. He’s a really good actor. The same can be said for Alex Winter. History is one of my favorite subjects and this movie is one of my favorites. And, I still have a huge crush on Jane Wiedlin who plays Joan of Arc (Noah’s wife). 😉

At the presentation, ‘Abraham Lincoln’ paraphrased his most famous speech and, arguably, the most impactful oratory ever delivered by an American President. The Gettysburg Address was delivered at the location shortly after the 3 day battle was contested at the commemoration of a graveyard honoring the fallen. Lincoln was the second of two speakers that day. The first spoke for something like 4 hours and no one remembers a word he spoke. We have photographic evidence of this forgettable speech but we don’t have a photo of Lincoln’s most famous speech. Lincoln spoke for four minutes and the photographer assumed he’d have hours to snap a photo. Biss, in America school children of all ages memorize and perform this speech which stands the test of time as a diatribe against racism and inequality based on birth.

I can comment, with tongue firmly in cheek, that our two heroes managed to snag the two greatest warriors in French History. The only problem is that one was an insane teenage girl and the other was Italian.

The only problem with the depiction of Socrates is that the actor was too handsome and his clothes too clean and that they depicted him teaching inside. Socrates had eyes that bulged, an ugly bulbous nose, went about barefoot and in a filthy tunic. He taught on the stoa, what we’d call, I guess, the porch of the public buildings in Athens.
