Nostalgic to say the least, watching Conan on VHS, playing D&D, ah the good ol days and I think it launched a lot of movies of that same kind adventure.

Hi Bisscute 😊 from San Antonio Texas USA 😊 Wonderful reaction and analysis and commentary 😊👍✅ This movie is what is called in the industry an epic where it takes time for the plot to form. I was watching you react to this movie as I was 24 in 1982 when this movie came out in the theaters and I grew up with this type of movie so the pacing for me is not a problem as it is with people who are watching it in this day and age. You have described yourself as one as well so I'm not surprised. There were times in the watching that your expression gave me the impression that you wanted the pace more to your liking... thank goodness for the music in the background to kind of pull you along with the story. The people who suggested you react to this movie know you pretty well. They know you appreciate a well-toned male physique and they know your "love" of snakes. Write up of the movie... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conan_the_Barbarian_(1982_film) The movie was filmed in Spain. Originally they wanted to use Yugoslavia but due to the unrest at the time of filming they chose Spain instead. (See the filming section of production in the write-up of this film) Your supposition about the use of optical effects in this film could be the forerunner of CGI is warranted. (See the optical effects section of production in the write up of the movie) You reiterated through the movie that the music score was very enjoyable and helped move the story along. (See the music section in write up of the movie) I agree with your rating all three stars for the movie. You will read in the write up of the film that the purest of the story from the comic books were not pleased. There is a sequel Conan the Destroyer that came out 2 years later in 1984 that continues the story. Thank you for all your hard work and I appreciate you so very much. Have a great day and God bless you with much love and prayers for strength and good health bye-bye 😊👍💪❤️✅

Actually the special effects were not cgi. It was actually hand drawn animation. Overlaid onto the film.

I don't understand what anyone ever saw in this movie. I watched it in the theater when I was about the same age as young Conan, and his loss of his mother, the way he did, hit me kinda hard. Of course, my parents covered my eyes during some scenes. ;) Arnold is just Arnold. I'm giving it two stars, but only for the landscapes and set design—otherwise, it's slow, tedious, and boring.. ;)

Arnold really did punch and knock out the camel!

Biss, this was Arnold's first major movie. He did this in 1982, and Terminator came out in 84. One of the best things about the movie is the music, it is spectacular.

I’m cutting out of work right now, starting vacation 2 days early, and this is how it’ll start
