Hi Bisscute ๐ from San Antonio Texas USA ๐ Wonderful reaction to this movie. The question you asked about would their lives have changed have they won is a very interesting question. The answer is purely psychological ...there some people who can handle winning and there are some people who cannot handle winning or we can also call success in any venture so I guess you could say as we looked at the personalities during the movie we can sort of see what success would do to them. Of course everybody loves the winner and just based on winning every one of them on the team may have received a scholarship to college and that can be a good thing should they take advantage of the opportunity. Each of us are individuals and will react to certain situations differently based on outside factors. I believe you summed it up instinctively mentioning the speech that the coach gave about being perfect and giving it your all no matter what the outcome...being satisfied by doing your best by not letting the other person down... That's all we can ask of ourselves and I think that's a good moral of this movie to take with us. Again, great reaction. I'm thankful for all your hard work and I appreciate you very very much. Have a great day and bye-bye ๐๐๐ชโค๏ธ๐๐คฒ๐ฏ๏ธ๐๐ฑ๐ผ๐บ๐ธ๐ต๏ธ๐ป๐ฟ๐

This movie is based on a book which is based on the authors experience following the team for that season. I'm glad you picked up on how overly obsessed the town is about football. The book is actually much more harsh in describing this obsession, so much so real people from the town were worried about the movie but in the end were delighted with it's toned down depiction (compared to the book, not meaning to imply what the truth may actually be).
The "For Sale" signs in front of the coach's house were a gentle hint from some of their sweet neighbors.
A couple other football movies I would recommend are Varsity Blues, which is highly referenced and has a similar premise as FNL, and All the Right Moves starring a pre scientologist, young Tom Cruise.
