Great reaction, Bisscute! This is the extended Director's Cut version and not my preferred version for exactly the reasons you state. This is only the second time I have seen the Director's Cut and I have seen this film about 20 times. The Theatrical Cut is my preferred version and it removes pretty much all the icky Mathilda/Leon "lover" stuff, and is so much better for it. I completely understand that it's almost exclusively from Mathilda's side, but it's still uncomfortable viewing. Aside from that, this is genuinely one of my favourite films of all time. Superbly acted, wonderfully well written and with a score to die for. I do read Tony differently to you, Bisscute, in that I don't believe he was taking advantage of anyone. He's supposed to be a (relatively) sympathetic character. Leon had no use for his money really as he led such an insular, perversely focused life, and Mathilda at the end needs to revert to normal childhood. She may know what $20k is, but Tony doesn't know that, and if he was genuinely trying to screw her over, he'd have denied any knowledge of Leon leaving her money. I'd really recommend rewatching this film, but dig out the shorter Theatrical Cut. All the good stuff is there. None of the icky stuff. And I suspect your score will go up to at least 4 out of 5! π Thanks so much for reacting! π

2023-09-02 01:30:41 +0000 UTCAlso part 2: CATs probably refers to a Counter Assault Team. For instance in the United State the people that protect the president are the Secret Service and they're already highly trained but they also have a CAT or Counter Assault Team that are much more highly trained and armed and they're always somewhere nearby incase of an attack and typically are former tier 1 and tier 2 special operations guys, tier 1 meaning the best of the best special operations units and those are typically comprised of the best of the best tier 2 guys that have a lot of experience and somehow manage to pass all the tests and qualifications to be selected to try out and then pass the intense training and testing so basically the CAT guys at least in the secret service are guys that have qualified for at least 2 -3 different teams that extremely few people are able to pass, like each of those units are hard to even get the chance to try out for and its hard to even be able to be selected for the tier one units because not all tier 2 guys see action and as far as I know only one tier one unit allows inexperienced people and then they still have to become Secret Service and then CAT so yeah they're not going to be inexperienced in any way. So anyway thats a short story long of basically saying they're probably just the DEA or whatever badasses

2023-08-28 17:51:45 +0000 UTCAlso at 27:50 yeah most interior walls in America are made with either wood or metal studs and drywall. The US sizing of studs makes no sense but the most common ones are equal to about 4x9 or 4x14 cm and they are usually around 2 to 3 meters long and go from the ceiling to the floor every 16 to 24 inches, 24 inches is equal to 2 feet and is around 60 cm. Then over the studs goes the drywall which is generally either 1/2" or 5/8", 1/2" is I believe exactly 12.7mm (if you know why I know that specific reference you are ultra wife material btw) and 5/8 is a few mm more and they usually come in 4x8 foot sheets so around 120x240cm and drywall is basically 2 thick pieces of paper with light weight plaster/cement between them. Then once the drywall gets screwed on to the studs it basically gets plastered to cover up the joints then sometimes spray plastered to make it look textured and then it gets painted. So basically yeah our walls are made of paper with a little bit of plaster between them and you can literally punch through them as long as you don't hit a stud, if you hit a stud you'll probably break your hand if you didn't pull the punch. That's also part of the reason why most self defence ammo in the US is made to expand on impact and not go through the person being shot because in a home defence situation it could harm others in the house or apartment building

2023-08-27 16:33:10 +0000 UTCIf you view the movie as a young girl thrown into an tragic situation and not as a gringy one because of how she felt about Leon as her protector you'll understand the relationship between the two. She developed her crush based on that and not a sexual one.

2023-08-26 06:13:58 +0000 UTCThe young girl (Mathilda) is Natalie Portman. You know her as Jane Foster in the Thor movies, she was the lead actress in Black Swan, and she played Queen/Senator Padme Amidala in Star Wars episode 1, 2 and 3. (Anakin's wife and mother to Luke and Leia.)

2023-08-26 03:40:44 +0000 UTCIt's Natalie Portman. She was really 12 when she played in this movie. Form what i know she broke through with this movie. It's nice to see that she act so good as a kid. You know her from Star wars and V for Vendetta. One of her best acting is in the movie Black swan, She won a oscar with acting in that movie.

2023-08-26 01:01:20 +0000 UTCThe name you're looking for is Princess Amidala. She's also Al Pacino's step daughter Lauren in Heat.

2023-08-26 00:56:55 +0000 UTCThe movie was OK but there are parts of this movie that are just beyond kringy and totally and completely inappropriate. She is clearly 12 years old and they crossed the line a few times and this is why I didn't vote for this movie to begin with.
