True Detective ep 5

Comments

You should definitely check out Night Manager, Little Drummer Girl and Devs. All three are great

Anamondaris

The Night Manager is amazing!

Anamondaris

@Erik H It's one of those rare shows that is well-written and well-produced. I've got some minor gripes with it, but it's in my top 5 shows of all time. Garland really managed to produce a fantastic atmosphere in it as well. I'm thinking that maybe miss Biss would prefer to watch one of Garland's movies first though, just to see if she's into that type of sci-fi storytelling (either Ex Machina or Annihilation), but I'd be more than delighted to see Devs as one of the next show reactions!

Henkan

Devs is criminally underrated and one of my favorite shows.

Man this is so good! I think this has been the best series or movie you've done. Though I don't agree, I think Rusts theory of reincarnation but not being able to change anything is super interesting/dark. To me that would make everything pointless because it was meant to happen and will happen forever. I'm still wondering about the Big Baddy, whether it be supernatural or another dimension aliens or maybe Bigfoot. 2 series to recommend: The Night Manager and an Australian espionage series Pine Gap. Thanks for all your content!

Ian A

Catatonic, to be immobile or in a non responsive state.

Rob Schofield

Another series you should consider checking out is “True Blood.” It has some very interesting characters.

Tom Hartley

I read it in another comment, but I think it's spot on. They were saying Rust made such a big deal about drinking during the interview because he knew it would make it inadmissible in court so if they couldn't try to turn anything he said back around on him. Also: Definitely Chernobyl

Robert C

Chernobyl is very good. There are some rough scenes in it though. I have to recommend the series Firefly. Only 14 episodes long, and one movie, Serenity to wrap everything up. Very fun show. Agree 100% on Sandman. Should have just continued Lucifer. Much better show, with an excellent cast. Was sad when it ended.

wow the rebel teenager daughter is starlight in the boyz 😂so strange to see her like that

Fish

I watched the sandman it was disappointing, I watched FMAB one of my fav anime <3. I def have my eyes On Chernobyl

Biss Reactions

I'd recommend starting with "the Little Drummer Girl", if you're inclined - it's directed by Park Chan-Wook (who made "the Handmaiden" and the original "Oldboy") and it's starring Florence Pugh, Alexander Skarsgård and Michael Shannon. Top-notch, so to speak.

Henkan

The first four sound really interesting. I mean, I saw Chernobyl so I know that one is good. Haven't seen the other three.

James Evanko

It's getting good!

Some series recommendations - some wouldn't garner the kind of youtube attention that you're after, but I type them out here for anyone who's interested in new series to watch: - Chernobyl (this one is obvious, it's really well-made) - The Night Manager (so, I don't like over-the-top James Bond-type spy things, which is why I prefer John Le Carré's stories: it's down-to-earth, intricate, subtle spy stories about real people in real situations - "The Night Manager" is about a literal hotel night manager who gets caught up in a situation where British Intelligence tries to catch an illegal arms dealer) - The Little Drummer Girl (also a Le Carré adaptation about a shady Israeli Mossad operation set in the '70s where they try to find Palestinian terrorists) - Devs (a fantastic sci-fi-ish series about a state-of-the-art tech company, and a guy who starts working at their top secret division, called Devs - written and directed by Alex Garland, who also made Ex Machina and Annihilation) - Ted Lasso (one of the best written/acted comedy shows in later years, it's a fish-out-of-water story about an American football coach moving to London to head a soccer team without knowing anything about the sport) - FullMetal Alchemist: Brotherhood (since you're not averse to watching anime, FMAB is a fantastic series about a fictional early 1900s world where "alchemy" exists, which is a type of naturalistic magic, and the story centers on two brothers who want to correct some mistakes they made in the past) - The Sandman (adaptation of Neil Gaiman's graphic novel of the same name - the story concerns the literal "god of dreams", Morpheus, and his responsibilities to the world)
