Great video. I really liked this one. Haven't seen it in many years. I think Gabriel Byrne is my favorite actor in this one. Also a little trivia: I don't know if it's true or not. The lineup scene at the start, where they are all giggling wasn't acting. Apparently Benicio Del Toro had horrible stomach problems that day and was constantly farting in that tiny room during and between takes. That's why they are all breaking.

They provide overwatch which basically means they are able to keep an eye on a team from an elevated position and let them know of incoming danger so that a team isn't surprised and can prepare themselves for what is coming. I would not go into any combat scenario without a sniper if one was available.
