Biss, I thought the "cold dog" comment was hilarious, you got an lol from me. When you said "get off my lawn" I realized you need to see Gran Torino in the worst way. You're going to love it, that's all I'll say on that. The measles is a fairly common viral childhood disease similar to chicken pox (a bit worse and a bit more dangerous) that mostly we have gotten a pretty good handle on how to prevent/treat. Like chicken pox, it can affect all ages but is most common in children.

2023-07-07 19:42:54 +0000 UTCWell this was an exciting film. Very nice to revisit this with you. TY TY looks like all the questions we answered so I got nothing else to ad. Oh I keep forgetting the rating, ummmm 4 out of 5.

2023-07-07 02:26:20 +0000 UTCNo need to marry me for a life-time supply of coffee and water! Just react to one movie I vote for ;))) Thanky you for your work Biss.

2023-07-06 22:54:20 +0000 UTCIf you liked this movie, Biss, I can highly recommend "the Right Stuff" - it's about the "Gemini" program (a precursor to the Apollo program), and how they selected the astronauts for manned space flights. It also won a couple of Oscars, and it's packed with good actors!

2023-07-04 22:39:13 +0000 UTCAs a child, I remember watching all these Apollo missions. My first memory of watching TV was Apollo 11. This is one on those movies I will stop and watch anytime I see it is on. I snuck out of work one afternoon when this movie was in theaters to watch it, and the launch was incredible on the large screen. We are working to get back to the moon. What amazes me is that you see in this movie men using slide rules to do math. The technology was cutting edge back then and we have basic calculators with more memory than the any of the space capsules had. Computers nowhere near as power as our phones took up entire rooms. As to why we haven't returned, I can think of a few reasons. The main one is cost. We were in an arms race in the cold war then. It was a show of our reach in power. That is no longer an issue. Another reason is why? Exploration? We thought it was all the same until recently where we found that there might be water near the poles, and that would help generate oxygen and make it sustainable for longer periods. Considering what we are doing to the earth, I hope we treat the moon a little nicer. A movie you might want to consider is "The Right Stuff". It shows the history of NASA and the astronauts. It was a great film from the early eighties. It fills in a lot of the gaps you had in understanding some of the terms and background of Apollo 13.

2023-07-04 21:05:45 +0000 UTCApollo 11 and Apollo 12 both landed on the moon and returned home safely. My dad was on the aircraft carrier that picked the astronauts up from the ocean and brought them home. He talked to one or two of them 🙂

2023-07-04 15:57:02 +0000 UTCYour reaction made watching this movie as good as watching it for the very first time so thanks! Hidden Figures(2016) is another cracker of a film that could run nicely alongside Apollo 13.

2023-07-04 12:17:51 +0000 UTCThe reason why we haven't been back to the moon since 1972 is because of the astronomical (pun intended) high price the space program is. Up until recently NASA/US GOVERNMENT has funded 90% of all space exploration and it's technologies that the rest of the world benefits from and it was time for the rest of the world to do their part. There has been discussions to going back to the moon to establish a base their for training purposes and to be used as a refueling station for when we begin colonizing Mars which has been in the works for almost a decade now. If this moon refueling station does happen at the earliest it would take place is in 2025. It is safe to say that with a lunar station there will be a first woman to land on the moon in the history of mankind.

2023-07-04 05:51:08 +0000 UTCGreat reaction! This movie is a real feel good movie, and I know you like the tug on the heart movies. It is directed by Ron Howard, an old child actor from the 50s and 60s. I found a lot of his movies, especially from the 80s and 90s had the same sense of wonder and feel goodness about them. You should check them out.

2023-07-04 02:35:41 +0000 UTCWhen Tom Hanks is exiting the helicopter at the end of the movie, he shakes a navy officers hand on the ship. That is the real James Lovell.

2023-07-04 02:03:40 +0000 UTCMEASLES A viral infection that's serious for small children but is easily preventable by a vaccine. The disease spreads through the air by respiratory droplets produced from coughing or sneezing. Measles is a highly contagious, serious airborne disease caused by a virus that can lead to severe complications and death. Measles symptoms don't appear until 10 to 14 days after exposure. They include cough, runny nose, inflamed eyes, sore throat, fever, and a red, blotchy skin rash.

2023-07-04 00:00:55 +0000 UTCI've lost count on how many times I've seen this movie. I get chills at the same parts every single time. This is easily my favorite reaction of yours so far. I had a smile on my face the entire time watching u try to figure it out. An easy 5 out of 5 for me. RIP Bill Paxton. Thank u Biss!!

2023-07-03 23:39:56 +0000 UTCI will say again, when Hollywood made movies, not check boxes. This movie would NEVER be made today.

2023-07-03 23:13:48 +0000 UTCNASA's Artemis III mission is the next attempt to land astronauts on the moon. Artemis II, which is planned to be a manned flyby around the moon, is planned for spring of 2024 according the CNN article I am reading right now.

2023-07-03 19:26:39 +0000 UTCYeah, money is a big issue. These missions aren't cheap. There's other things they'd rather spend it on. That's part of why space exploration from the US perspective has gone more privatized, though NASA is planning other things themselves, as well. It sounds like we are planning on going to the moon again in the relatively near future. It will at least be a milestone to test the new designs prior to heading to Mars. There is actual video of the moon surface explorations on YouTube. I didn't realize that until recently. It's some long video, but I recommend searching for it and at least watching bits and pieces of it to get a sense of what it was like.

2023-07-03 19:18:48 +0000 UTCOne of the things I enjoy about watching your reactions is because it's like seeing a movie for the first time again. I've seen Apollo 13 at least 10-15 times. It's fun to see it through a fresh pair of eyes. Laika was the name of the dog, launched by the Soviet Union in 1957. The US launched a few monkeys into space also. Sadly I don't believed they survived. As for why we do don't go back to the moon, I think there are a few reasons, money being the main one. And really there hasn't been a real reason to go back. I think once we figure out how to get to Mars, then we will see the moon being used in some sort of fashion. So in conclusion I have to give this movie a rating of a 5 out of 5. Also have you noticed a pattern with Tom Hanks movies yet? He somehow always ends up in the water.

2023-07-03 18:54:31 +0000 UTCAnd Fred is played by Bill Paxton, who was also Sgt. Farell in Edge of Tomorrow.
