Raiders of the Lost Ark Full and early

Comments

The NAZIS were obsessed with the occult.

Jason

thanks Amy 😊

Well.... I read the title of the movie when scrolling through your reactions and was like "nice indiana jones", while clicking it my mind went "riders on the storm..." I was like I can explain no one how I got there... few minutes later you say you also thought of that ... :D

Was looking forward to this one. It's unfortunate she didn't like it. Not really worth watching reactions, at least for me, if the person isn't enjoying it. With Cassie from Popcorn In Bed not really jiving with The Fifth Element as well I'm kind of bummed today.

Nazi history around this stuff is fascinating. Tons of activity went on well outside of "art collecting." If you're at all interested in this part of that story, google "Ahnenerbe." A branch of the SS, founded by Heinrich Himmler in 1935, to research ancient cultures and practices in support of efforts to establish a coherent and superior Aryan culture which would be adopted by the Third Reich after the war. In terms of the archaeological faction of this organization, the influence of their findings is hard to exaggerate... The swastika (卐 or 卍) is an ancient religious and cultural symbol, predominantly in various Eurasian, as well as some African and American cultures - now widely recognized for its appropriation by the Nazi Party.

Nefarious is defined as being wicked or criminal. One thing that absolutely holds up about this movie, John Williams score for these movies. The music is brilliant and timeless. My favorite line in the movie is when Marion is being captured and she says "but I am an American" I think it is reasonable to think that the Indiana Jones Movies are a huge influence on games like uncharted or tomb raider. 2.5 out of 5 is not that bad to be honest, so TY TY for sharing this, Biss. I saw this when it came out in theaters in 1981 with my parents. We all loved it so much so yeah it has been and always will be a favorite of mine.

You would have appreciated TKaM more IMHO. Just sayin...🛡️🍯

Also, just for your edification, post credit scenes were extremely rare until the 90s-2000s. There were only a handful in all of Hollywood history until Ferris Bueller made them popular in 1986. Chicka-chicka...

The figures on top of the ark are actually cherubim, the angels that served God directly. Exodus 25:18-20 18 And thou shalt make two cherubims of gold, of beaten work shalt thou make them, in the two ends of the mercy seat. 19 And make one cherub on the one end, and the other cherub on the other end: even of the mercy seat shall ye make the cherubims on the two ends thereof. 20 And the cherubims shall stretch forth their wings on high, covering the mercy seat with their wings, and their faces shall look one to another; toward the mercy seat shall the faces of the cherubims be.

There are times when BISS is telling us on a video about people giving her negative reviews about her taste of music, movies, how she reacts to something incorrectly etc etc and I truly wish she would tell them not everyone reacts to things the same way and if you don't like my reaction you can go F yourself. I could be wrong but there are times when I can see BISS really wants to say what I just mentioned but she just doesn't do it.

Michael Aalgaard

You ARE going to get shit about this on youtube. Just tell them to f-off and it's just your opinion about a movie made 40 years ago!

Andrew Zachman

If you were not so damned cute!!!!

duane

Judging by the cheap CGI in the trailers and Indie being 100, I don't think even we Indie enjoyers will like it.... Can't be worse than the 4th right? Right? *PadmeMeme*

Tgrmas

Agreed

Andrew Zachman

I mean it's still a great film regardless of the time. I think some people just can't get into older films or maybe some people prefer CGI over Practical. I have a friend who just can't watch films past the 1990s and it's a struggle to get them to watch stuff like Alien as to them it's too "old".

Jedi Mandalore (Dylan)

Raiders of the Lost Ark is heavily inspired by the visual style of older films a re-creation and in many ways a modern version of the movie serials of the 1930s and 1940s. From Casablanca (1942) to Red River (1948), Seven Samurai (1954), and The Magnificent Seven (1960). But the film still keeps the visual style, action, and tone of the films of these decades but just a little more mature getting away with more blood and of course benefiting from modern cameras and film tech. Similar to the Burton Batman films and how they have this timeless 1930s look along with the fact many of the effects sound like something you'd hear from a film from the 1930s to 1950s. Burton was inspired by classic Noir films and if you watch Batman 89 in Black and White it would feel like something shot in the 1930s just with the budget and production design of a 1980s film. Raiders of the Lost Ark in Black and White would very much feel like a classic 1940s film. Once you get this I think you'll appreciate these films even more similar to how George Lucas was inspired by Flash Gordon movie serials from the 1930s when creating Star Wars. But yeah I think you're the first person I've watched who doesn't really care for Indiana Jones. But that's fine it's not for everyone but I wonder how you'll feel about the new movie coming out directed by James Mangold who directed movies like Ford v Ferrari, Logan, Cop Land, and The Wolverine all great films. Maybe you'll enjoy a more modern take on a classic film that was a modern take on films from the 1930s/1940s lol

Jedi Mandalore (Dylan)

Just something for y'all to think about. In this movie Indiana Jones contributed absolutely nothing to the ultimate outcome of this movie. The Nazis would of died and the US would of confiscated the ark regardless of his involvement.

Michael Aalgaard

I am sorry you did not like this movie, although I do get your opinion. This movie was not marketed to girls. I totally see how you came to this conclusion. But for 8 year old boys this movie was the shit. However as I got older I realized Indiana Jones is in fact a child molesting grave robber who has no ethics and is willing to kill anyone who gets in his way! That being said I still love this movie and although again I do respect your opinion and rating, I give it a 5 out of 5!

Andrew Zachman

I had a feeling BISS wasn't going to like the movie. It was a great movie for it's time with state of the art special effects. Nowadays anybody can produce better special effects at home on their computer just for fun.

Michael Aalgaard

More Nazis...I really hate these guys...

Bandmaidfanatl

Yes the actor Harrison Ford played Han Solo in Star Wars as well.

Michael Aalgaard

The actor you are talking about also played GIMLI in THE LORD OF THE RINGS

Michael Aalgaard

Han solo Damn i was trying to remember this name so hard

Biss Reactions

Best movie of my childhood! I would pretend to by Indiana Jones going on adventures, flying around in the Millennium Falcon, exploring distant planets! I could do that because both Indy and Han were played by the same actor, so it was allowed!
