The key to understanding Mel is, at first, she naively wanted to profit off Hextech. But once she saw the carnage at the bridge, she was reminded of her upbringing, and changed her tune to the more diplomatic voice that we see on the Council in this episode. Especially, too, after re-uniting with her mother, and realizing how bent she is on using Hextech as a weapon, it is only logical for her to try to pump the breaks on its development.

The weapons vi and jayce use in this chapter are the actual weapons they use in the game, they even recreate jayce's abilitys in game, so for players watching this for the first time, was fkin awesome

I think it's worth noting that Silco isn't the root cause of ALL suffering in The Lanes. The Lanes (Underground) have been living in poverty and harsh conditions for much longer than Silco has been in power, which is mostly due to Piltover (Top Side) being an oppressive power. The greed and corruption of Piltover has forced the people of the Underground to fend for themselves with little to no resources. This put Silco in a position to become what he is, a product of his environment. He feels it's necessary to fight to improve the well being of those in the Underground. His methodology isn't great, but it's important to note that he didn't do this simply because he's evil, he did all of these awful things, as a means to a better future for his people. While I do disagree with him almost completely, in the path he's chosen, I can also completely understand his philosophy and what pushed him to become this person. I also think that we can't give Jayce a pass on killing an innocent child, simply because Silco put that child in that position. Jayce and Vi didn't have to take this route, but they also felt it was necessary to fight. I think it's important to recognize the differences in why Silco fights and why Vi fights, but the issue is, they have the same end result. Innocent lives are lost and suffering ensues. Vander said it best: "Nobody wins in war, Vi."

And in this episode there was also Ekko's meeting with Heimerdinger.
