I greatly appreciate your sympathy for Marcus. Everyone tends to hate him, particularly for how he kidnaps Vi. But he actually saves her life from either A. being killed or B. being kidnapped. He is a sympathetic character because while he does learn from his mistakes, he also finds himself in positions where he's not actually able to do any real good, and is forced to cooperate with evil (not unlike Grayson and Vander, who, even though we view Vander as good, is still engaged in illegal business). For example, if he had pulled the pin and blown up Silco, we all know Jinx's bombs don't work like that. They have a timer. And Silco would almost certainly have a means of thwarting him.
