Yeah we're pretty much on real shit time for the rest of the season and I can not WAIT to rewatch it all

Here we go. This is where shit gets real.
This episode intro really goes to show how badly slaves are being treated (obviously) and how good Einar and Thorfinn have it. Having such a great owner like Ketil is truly a blessing.
I feel bad for Snake here, he sees Sverkel like his own father, even if he acts the way he does with him. He cares about him. It's sad to see Sverkel like this, he's clearly not used to it and he doesn't want to accept being this old. The scene with Arnheid taking care of him and making everyone food was super cute though.
"There's no telling what a cornered man will do." No kidding. Snake's men do kinda deserve it for being like that, Snake did tell them to call for reinforcements. What a bunch of goofs.
It's kinda interesting seeing Thorfinn take interest in the Bible. It probably resonates in some way with his new world view and probably sounds similar to things his father used to tell him when he was young.
It's clear that Snake doesn't want to actually sell the book. That might be one of his wants sure, but he clearly loves Sverkel. He wouldn't do all these things for him, if that wasn't the case.
And here we find out that the runaway slave is Arnheid's husband and that his name is Gardar. This is gonna get serious real quick.
You could tell how much Snake cared about Lizard too, when getting confirmation of his death.
You could also see how strong/combat smart Snake really is. There's a reason why everyone calls him boss. Especially when looking at the fact that his men lost to an injured person, even if they were taken by surprise.
Snake is kinda right here, he wasn't her husband anymore. He's clearly lost his mind by being slave for all these years, not even understanding the fact that he doesn't have a son anymore. He's clearly delusional and living only off the illusion that he could still have a family and a life with his wife and child. It's heartbreaking to see someone with so little life left in them that it's the only thing keeping them alive.
Arnheid's and Gardar's backstory is so sad, I couldn't imagine being separated like this from your family, especially your baby. Her screams there cut into my heart like a sharp blade. It's just too painful.
And here's the bombshell. She's pregnant with Ketil's son. That's probably why she was scared of Gardar. She was probably surprised to see him even alive, but being unfaithful to a strong man like that; I imagine it might not end well if he learned that news.
That little backstory about Sverkel and Ketil was so sad. He clearly regretted giving the girl away to Ebbe. It's probably a thing he's had to shoulder his whole life and he doesn't want Arnheid to regret not doing anything when she could. I respect Sverkel here for not trying to stop Arnheid.
Anyone who hates on Season 2 and thinks it's worse than Season 1 clearly has no appreciation for the deeper meaning of things or can't read between the lines. Vinland Saga season 2 is in my opinion one of the best seasons of any show out there. It's up there with amazing stories like Attack on Titan. 11/10 I couldn't ask for a better season.
