Always kinda dumbfounded how most reactors see Luffys first bounty as a negative thing when the show is all about Pirates and obviously Big Bounty = more notorious Pirate and who does Luffy want to be? The most dangerous of them all, the King of Pirates, so him raising his bounty above everyone else comes by default Although I guess its kind of easy to see Luffy and co. as the good guys at the start of the series and usually bounties are meant for villains Its easy to forget that the straw hats ARE the villains in most cases during their journey

2024-08-21 13:21:06 +0000 UTCAbout why Luffy hasn't killed anyone. Oda answered this in the SBS in the Manga which is QnA between chapters. How come Luffy never kills his enemies? Throughout "One Piece" manga so far, he didn't kill Mohji and Helmeppo, but Axe-arm Morgan was killed by Zoro, why is that? O: Hmm! That's a very good question. First, I have to announce that Morgan is still alive. He's currently in jail, where he was placed by his former subordinates. Why doesn't Luffy kill his enemies? Because in that era, everyone uses their lives to fight for their dreams. For an enemy, when their dream has been shattered, it is the same as losing a fight, and as painful as death. I believe that, as pirates, killing or not killing is secondary to victory or defeat. Dreams and ambition are a big thing in One Piece.

In this case Luffy beat other Pirates and did not plunder or kill like others, he is seen as a hero by the inhabitants of the villages he saved and that does not please the government who sees him as a threat. Anyone who defies the established order is a threat, regardless of their intentions, age or race. Luffy's bounty reflects both his successes against powerful enemies and the potential threat he represents to the World Government.
