I think it's okay to feel how you guys feel. It's hard getting into a series that you haven't read. I do think the show does a good job at providing all this information through the dialogue in quick conversations but I think you guys were focused on other things while this is going on. I think you guys are expecting normal human reactions and one of the biggest things about this World is that demi-gods brains work differently than humans. They aren't normal so they don't typically react in normal 'human' ways. Both Percy and Annabeth are 12 years old so I don't think we're gonna get huge emotional ranges from them at this time. I think it can get confusing when you're not thinking about each character's backstory, age and God parent. Annabeth is a daughter of Athena, through and through, Athena's children are meant to be the best stragetist for war & quests as well as just in general the smartest demigods. She spent years on the run with Luke, Thalia and Grover. She has had experience with this before getting to camp. She's not gonna panic or rush things. It's not in her nature or who she is. It's going to reflect how she's gonna react to certain situations. Percy has spent his whole entire life ignoring the things he sees or feels so he can be 'normal'. I think this also affects how he reacts to certain situations. He's doing his best to adapt. His main focus is to get his mom back. He has so much animosity towards his father and the Gods. He doesn't really care about completing the quest he's only doing it for his mom. It also takes a while for Annabeth and Percy to become comfortable around each other and be friends in the books. It's something that builds as they get older and go on more quests. They're both closed off to each other and have other things they're focused on. They're not there to get to know each other.

I do want to note you guys that most of the things you guys complain about or are confused about is literally explained in the episode you just watched. The whole humans not being able to see was explained in episode 1. Where Grover said it was because of the Mist that hides the magical world from the real world.

I’m hoping it gets to stick around for at least the first five books. Book 5 is my fave of the original book series.

Fun fact in the book Percy Jumps to the water and didnt fall and get caught. Rick Riordan when asked why he wrote it that way said, "I thought it was closer" aka he thought the arch was close to the water irl not far away

I love this show and books. I joked with my brother growing up that the books mature with the characters like harry potter does.

It’s ok to not love season 1 , because even though I loved it I know it won’t be my favourite season because book 1 wasn’t my favourite either . Both the show and movie had to make sacrifices, both aren’t 1:1 adaptions . The movies sacrificed the core themes and story whereas the show sacrificed the action and goofiness. The reason the show is more well received is because the show has something to build from while the movies didn’t not , that’s why the 2nd one was a disaster . The budget for the show is also not as high as people thought it was . It could even be lower than the budget for the first movie . The budget for season 2 is noticeably so much higher you can tell by the trailer alone .
