JURASSIC WORLD: Rebirth (2025) - Movie WATCH ALONG!!

When Xavier went about ten miles to take a piss on an island full of predators, I just knew he was done. I was surprised he made it, but they'd made him more likable by then. That D -Rex was supposed to be the scary reveal. The copter scene with it was great, but it looked like the Rancor from Return of the Jedi 😁

Having seen this a second time (this time with you guys), I think I might actually like it less than on the first viewing. I think the spectacle got me the first time around in theaters, kinda regret the $20 I spent buying it for home, even though I do have a great home theater setup lol. There were some great set pieces for sure. The CGI actually looks good. I'm surprised how much movies tend to cheap out lately. The characters felt like archetypes, from the greedy bad guy who's been a fixture since The Lost World, the nerdy scientist with a heart of gold, the mercenary who lost family, to Scarjo who's just dino Black Widow now? But the plot used the archetypes to their best potential. Gareth Edwards is also just a great director. Unfortunately, there was a lot of predictability in terms of the overall plot and the scene-to-scene moments. Also feels like half the movie (after getting on the island) is characters slowly turning around to reveal dinosaurs lurking behind them.. seriously how many times does that happen? Otherwise, lots of callbacks to prior movies. Way too many callbacks. It felt like it was trying to pull on your nostalgia heartstrings. And of course it had to have some sort of extra-big and bad dino hybrid, as if real dinosaurs aren't cool enough. As a big dino fan, I just.. don't like it. It just felt like I wasn't watching something truly new. Almost like The Force Awakens all over again. A competent "rebirth" of a franchise, that offers inspired moments, yet is fine otherwise resting on its laurels, retreading familiar ground, though well executed. I feel like the 50%-ish RT score is exactly right. Definitely a better movie than the Jurassic World movies. Even the first one, which wasn't bad. Doesn't reach the heights of the original or Lost World. I don't think I like it more than JP3, but I have a weird soft spot for #3, so I know many wouldn't agree. However, ranking this #4... the bar is low with the World movies.

It's definitely off by about 2 seconds, at least on the website version. I'm in sync with their reaction, but the video/audio is about 2 seconds behind their reaction whenever it de-blurs and the audio comes on.

I waited to watch this with you guys, and gal. This movie was so much fun. I do not hear the 51% Rotten Tomatoes. This film was fun and wondrous. Also, I think you reaction is not in line with the timing/blurred video.

I enjoyed this one. I'm not sure where I would rank it but it is definitely better than Fallen Kingdom and Dominion.
