"BOOTS! BOOTS! BOOTS! BOOTS!"
"28 Years Later" is easily in my Top 5 Films of 2025. Saw it 3 times in cinema (and will come back here to watchalong once I get my physical bluray copy). Great to see Danny Boyle & Alex Garland working together again as they bring out the best in each other (Boyle with the heart & Garland with the disturbing).
This is a unique coming of age film. One that hits hard at parenting, the dangers of mythmaking and isolationism. About LIFE always finding a way (ahem Dr. Malcolm), and DEATH coming for us all, and how we each deal with that universal truth differently.
It's also a very North England/British culture movie to the core, filled with gorgeous cinematography from jacked up iPhone camera shots of the lush vistas of North England, and the night sky amidst the survival horror of these characters journeys.
Amazing work & performances from Alfie Williams, ATJ, Jody Comer & the CLOSER KING Ralph Fiennes (also the make ups from the rage infected & dong prosthetics crew lol).
*Oh and the great score by "Young Fathers" has been on my Spotify repeat list since June :)
