Raul Julia, who played Gomez Addams, died from complications of a stroke and cancer on October 24, 1994, before a third Addams Family movie with the original cast could be made. His death led to the cancellation of plans for a third film, as Anjelica Huston (Morticia) also refused to continue without him, and the role of Gomez was recast in the subsequent straight-to-video film Addams Family Reunion.
