It is 100% not debatable with Eugene. Not even a little bit haha. Dude was bit and during his walk with Joel, he was already turning. It boggles the mind that anyone on Earth somehow thinks it made any sense to transport an infected dude for miles. Consider also that Dina was prepared to shoot the love of her life straight away and was still ready even after Ellie told her she was immune. The idea that Joel should have risked transporting an infected man for miles is deranged haha. The scene also proves that no one has the right to judge Joel in that community because boy howdy did Ellie, Eugene and Gail lose all sense of objectivity regarding that situation. It shows that people are not logical in situations involving loved ones.

2025-05-20 09:45:37 +0000 UTCI know it's contentious regarding whether Joel killing Eugene before letting him talk to Gail was right and whether he should have lied or not. I personally would rather know the truth even if it hurts more than the comforting lie. I also think it's dangerous to let Eugene go home to talk to his wife. I find it interesting that Joel disregarded the wishes of two people and it's debatable whether those actions were right. It makes for good television. I also like the decision to move Ellie learning about Joel's lie to right before he dies.
