2025-05-15 12:51:00 +0000 UTCSaw this in theaters just about 2 weeks ago, there were still plenty of people watching. Mostly families and a LOT of teenagers. Expected the worst, but everyone just cheered and clapped at the chicken jockey part. Agree with PetMyChicken regarding the movie itself. I don't know how to feel about it. don't play minecraft but I'm familiar with it, so I understood most of the references. I want to say it's objectively a bad movie -- predictable plot line, honestly some terrible dialog, but the performances themselves weren't bad. Jack Black and Jason Momoa seemed like they were having a ton of fun, and I always appreciate a movie where the actors are obviously enjoying their roles. I also did find myself laughing quite a lot, sometimes at the intended jokes, sometimes at the (I assume intended) stupidity. The Jared Hess charm is definitely tangible under the somewhat corporate cash-grab facade. I still have no idea why Jennifer Coolidge's subplot even existed. Also -- Rollercoaster Tycoon shout-out!! Hundreds of hours of my childhood were spent with that game!
