You get so much more exposition from the Special Edition. Theatrical was bland in comparison. Even features a cameo from T1 in the Special Edition.

We have John that we know from the films that we see regularly… BUT I believe there is a John that we never see, that was not Reese’s son, but rather the child of a possible one night stand or short lived romance that we never get to see happen. Sarah’s date calls it off. He has an emergency, he drives a porsche. I believe he’s a doctor and he’s been called in to possibly do surgery on one of the other murdered Sarahs. This John was probably sent off to military school or boarding school which is why he resents his father who may have died before the war. When Kyle and the terminator go back, they change history just enough that this John doesn’t exist, but instead Kyle becomes a father to a second John who’s destiny unfolds as we see in the films. But as we know now for fact, these events play out over and over and over again spiraling out of control until we get to Genisys, the TV show and Dark Fate.

2024-12-17 17:42:48 +0000 UTCthe 4K blu-ray that just dropped for this is INCREDIBLE. This is a movie that was released with a mono sound mix and they turned that into a fully fleshed out Dolby Atmos sound mix. I don't know how you do that and thinking about it breaks my brain.
