2025-05-18 00:12:21 +0000 UTC95% of the time the community will be able to interact with each other. People can share what they are doing, maybe play some games together. You can hold fun events and interact with the community who are not in California. You will find the funniest jokes and memes on there and most of the time, It will be fun. But the caveat is that the one thing that is synonymous with public discord is drama. Drama can come in and go in the span of seconds. I know you said that you cherish your patreon members but if one of them says something weird on Discord, you have to be willing to ban them on discord (and maybe even on patreon). Im sure the majority of your community wont cause any problems but it its always the troublemakers that are the loudest. It some point, you will eventually have a Discord member type up the worst drama imaginable. And if you are not comfortable banning paying partreon members from the discord due to their chat interactions, I suggest not having a discord. But then the problem could be a mass banning, which coulda probably lead to more phone calls so that's another problem discord will give u. Having honest moderators are tough to find too.

2024-06-30 04:49:46 +0000 UTCI think that for your discord, you'd need several moderators. Typically they are volunteers. Then you interact directly with the moderators. They can kick out troublemakers. I stopped using the discord looooong ago because of there were a few very toxic bullies on it who seemed to love attacking people for literally anything.

2024-06-27 16:07:31 +0000 UTCHey Greg, I’ve been familiar with discord for over 4-5 years now and if you’d like any help with setting up channel verifications to avoid bots and add roles with personal selection for specific chats that allow the rejects options into what convos they wanna insert themselves in just let me know. I also know of a few moderation bots for discord channels to help managing.
