Went back to the previous chapters and rewrote some (it should read smoother, and there's like five or six hundred words more). I also went back to write more in... chapter 9 and others. But all fates seem to be against Jon Snow in general so par for the course really. Very interested to see where he goes and who he becomes after hitting rock bottom.

It seems like the Children are either completely gone or have gone mad. I don't know which is worse. Brynden died while providing only a part of Jon's mother's name. Rough. Great job, as always, and I look forward to seeing what happens next.

2025-09-16 21:42:16 +0000 UTCGood chapter. Brynden was solid in Jon’s corner, which deviates from some depictions in other stories. The Children and Tower greenseer were tragedies in their own ways. Hopefully, Jon really does stop caring who his mother was, or things could get awkward.

2025-09-16 11:10:28 +0000 UTCI was tentatively ok with most of this chapter despite it feeling a bit odd, thinking it'll all come together in time, but assuming Brynden wasted his last breath to tell him his mother was a nameless Lyseni whore? Or that Ned would have slept with one on campaign? Neither of those sit right with me. I can totally see not getting "Lyanna" from that, but at least assume it's a name my dude. Otherwise it wouldn't have been a big deal. Heck, a quick Google shows at least 4 houses of Westeros that start with "Ly". Lyber, Lychester, Lydden, and Lynderly. Even if the Y in some might be pronounced a little different, Brynden could have skewed the pronunciation as life left him. I fully approve of denying Jon a name, of having him stop caring, but that jump feels dirty.
