Chapter 14 of No Joy is out for Squires!

I also again decided to hug the canon divergence, if vaguely told by excerpts without dragging on unimportant PoVs (especially since I arrived at the parts of the Dance that made even less and less sense) Let me know what you think in the comments.

I honestly think that Jon is going to show himself as a dragon rider and go the diplomatic route. Maybe he will become Lord of Dragonstone as a result of peace talks with the Greens. He seemed pretty OK with them up until now. At least they didn't try to kill him and might agree to let Rheana go if she marries him. I don't think he is suddenly going to kill thousands as his opening move. He despises senseless war too much for that.

It’s one thing for Jon to have a dragon and be insanely good with a sword, but commanding just hits different in my opinion.

Rhaenyra and her court in Kings Landing, faring worse than in the canon. Jon "You have little I want" Stark confessing his fondness for Rhaena but with caveats. Ashcove turning from a village into a town. Etc Quite a lot happening in this chapter, even if on the side lines. Will Jon stir when the Greens attack Dragonstone and Ashcove with it? When the Greens attack Dragonstone, with Rhaenyra in Kings Landing, will he leave Rhaena defenseless? Jon Stark, being the honorbound fool that he is, I think not. And with Ser Broome bound to Jon "I really enjoy fishing" Stark of Ashcove, how will Aegon manage to enter Dragonstone Castle? Etc So many questions. Eagerly awaiting answers. Nicely done.

2025-04-09 20:50:22 +0000 UTCThere was a fanfic once where northerners joked that the first Stark king was so humble and honorable that the lords had to ambush him and chain him to the throne to put the crown on his head. We're getting close to that point with Cregan Stark leading the mob and Rhaena pushing Jon into their loyal embrace, all the while Jon pleading for mercy from his kingly fate.
