Chapter 05 of No Joy is out for Squires!
Added 2025-02-03 08:50:06 +0000 UTCA bit chunkier and later chapter than usual, but I closed my eyes to take a short nap and a few hours sort of passed. Anyway, introducing a new PoV always feels tricky and slow, but I think I did good here--don't shy to give me your thoughts.

Also, I hope Jon gets to F their S upppppp. This story is awesome! Bring on the crackness. I also really like forward to seeing how Daemon and Jon get on together. With Jon being so much older than Rhaena, I feel like Jon is going to need a degree of chaotic maturity. I also feel like Daemon could use a humbling.

Changes will come, but Jon isn't actively seeking to 'change' things and the ripples he can make right now are quite small, and I do have to introduce characters/the conflict etc. But fair enough, the pace probably feels entirely different from SD.

Then, after releasing the 5 heads from the bag to the floor, Rhaenyra's voice fills the hall: "What do you think you're doing?" And Jon just walks off and says: "Killing Monsters." :D Otherwise, I curse the wait but am happy to have something to look forward to.

2025-02-03 15:34:22 +0000 UTCI'm going to be honest, not liking this one. The chapters seem to ramble on with nothing really happening. I preferred the get shit done tone that SD had with every chapter, it always felt like the plot was moving on.

Jon is good, but half naked against armored knights would be very difficult without a Valyrian steel sword. As predicted the 5 are going to play a key role in the unveiling of Jon. The only question is if the Bronze Fury will play a role as well, I can see scenarios in which Jon rescues both without using his dragon, however it would be nicer for the plot imho if his bonding is discovered.

And Rhaenys would certainly defend their claims over her “grandsons”! RIP to that brave monkey. He was so bold and fierce but absolutely at the mercy of those stronger than him. And omg Baela’s wish to get married soon…

Good chapter...even if you take extra time until the "bad guys" show up in the last paragraph. Hehe and aren't they in for a rude awakening, whether with flame or steel...their end will come. The big question after that is just how annoyed Jon will be...and of course the consequences with the rest of the House of Dragons.
