Chapter 93 of Shrouded Destiny (SD) is out for Squires!

Here comes the climax and my longest chapter to date! Not the climax you expected, but still a climax regardless. A heavy chapter, I'm not entirely happy with it and will probably do a blanket edit for polish later on, so feel free to critique/comment. On the same note, chapter 92 Jon/Robb/Ned interaction has been heavily polished and should read better.

You can read the previous chapters in the collection.

Wow unexpected but honorable chapter

Garri Sarkisov

I'll definitely polish the chapter later this week and expand on these things.

I believe that

Fantastic chapter. Wow Aegon is really a good dude. I mean I knew it but you really hammered it home here. He really kept good on his promise, and immediately went back and told his followers the truth. Robb is right; the guy is more honorable and decent than literally most of the great lords and knights of Westeros. You were also right…Varys and Illyrio did a far better job with him than they probably wanted or expected to. If that’s not ironic comedy I don’t know what is. On a more personal note…I feel for Aegon regarding Illyrio. He had a father that quite literally couldn’t be assed to have a sing face to fact conversation. Just used him as a pawn to gain control over a country…that he didn’t even care about or live in. I always thought that was one of the most fucked up parts about his story. He just got treated like a mushroom.

Based_Bass

It's not that he fessed up about Jon Snow (he doesn't even believe that). He thinks that Aegon has been bewitched by Eddard Stark the black wizard.

I won’t lie this was messy as hell like damn , can’t you keep a secret Jon connington

george zuki

Its definitely the very end that. It's not bad, but it doesn't feel maybe up to par. Love that you gave Aegon this shot though

I really liked this chapter, with Barristans surety turns to turmoil. I feel like it fits aegon's character he's always tried to preserve life and was getting more and more disillusioned with westeros

Daydream

Thinking some more iirc Illiro had a small portrait of aegon's mother he carried around right? Maybe give that to the kid. Don't know how complicit the dead woman was in the deception, but I imagine most mothers would be opposed to not raising their first born.

There's only so much things you can cram into a chapter, and the parley was the main thing that took the most of it. But I suppose you have a point, I myself am not happy with some parts of the chapter. There's also the fact that I failed to throw in enough foreshadowing, so I'll be going back to the previous chapters and subtly adding a few things to help the continuity.

Love that Doran and his ilk are getting their just deserts and I'm glad that we didn't see more needless bloodshed. I genuinely feel bad for Aegon here, his whole life he has been lied to and when he finally meets his supposed kin his entire worldview is shattered. Robb is right though Aegon showed more honor and courage here then most of the knights and pius lords ever would, although I'm worried what Connington and Quentyn will try, I've been headcannonibg that Quentyn does something stupid and Robb kills him and Cuntington is desperate for a fight with Ned to avenge his silver prince.

Arianne's thotery continues to have consequences I see lol. Quentyn is really been fucked in the head too. Sad no final epic duel but this works too. Bee free Aegon conquer your own kingdom like your ancestor.

Yeno Memevig

Yay!! I loved your Aegon and was hoping another decent man wasn’t trampled by war and lies. I hope he set himself a nice little fiefdom in Essos. I also hope the Martels are well and truly fucked after this debacle.

Have to be honest. This chapter started off interesting and then turned into 'meh' at the very end. Have enjoyed most chapters to one extent or another, even the ones that I didn't think I would enjoy (filler chapters or the like, I like action mostly), but this one's end left me disappointed for some reason. Enjoyed the pseudo tête-à-tête between FAegon and the Starks. Would have liked more build-up for the chaos/betrayal that FAegon's choice immediately led to. I don't dislike the chapter, just feel like there should have been more intriguing of FAegon's before the whole thing unraveled. Maybe we'll get to read more on that in the next chapter.

Was really concerned with how things were playing out that Aegon would never hear the truth right from Lord Stark and Jon, glad to see I was wrong. This has been a scene, maybe THE scene I've been looking forward to for like 50? chapters, ever since Varys told Barristan that Lyanna's child was alive. This is peak FAegon, I can't stand stories that write him like a Targaryen Joffrey. In the books the scary/interesting thing about him is how competent and likeable he seems from the little we see of him. Great stuff big G

gigamans

I was actually hoping for this kind of resolution as I kind of liked Aegon. He’s a victim too and is a decent man, I did not want him to die

The factions are still coalescing because it's a campaign. But Aegon threw a bomb that basically forced many to draw a line instantly. There isn't one coherent faction, but many, many splinter ones. The main ones are the former tiger cloaks of Volantis that are loyal to Aegon. A big chunk of the Golden Company that are in Westeros to return and gain back land/become nobility. Jon Con is part of them, and thinks Aegon has been betwiched by Eddard Stark's dark magic. A part of the GC is loyal to Blackfyre, but are rightly confused. Quentyn has invested too much, and he needs FAegon to succeed, so he also hops on 'Aegon has been bewitched train'. The other Dornish were taking the opportunity to proclaim for Tommen and fuck House Martell that is at its weakest. Some of the Stormlords just hate certain Dornish houses or their usual rivals and used the chaos to attack. It's a proper, proper mess.

Gladiusx

I hope to get a decent explanation about the different factions inside the false king's army I suspect the stony dornish being the most westerose normal adjacent And having a very dark and bloody legacy fighting against black fire pretenders Unexploded the situation and trying to kill the sell swords at the same time Quentin is a disgusting turn clock and is trying to get rid of his sister and and her now useless husband The strom lords are just opportunistic and share hatred of the blackfire

The chapter was awesome

Liima1

At least Barristan can die like a knight with sword in hand

VishihaHitachi

This. This is how FAegon should be.

Harkin

I’m glad it turned out this way, the Starks get to drop an existential nuke on FAegon’s identity, not have another battle with a Northern Sweep and we still get to watch the bloodthirsty parasites tear each other to shreds!

Good fucking chapter

Gor Yanâd Azaghâl

Very good chapter - such a good climax and such a telling writing of Aegon, one of my favorite characterizations of him.

Arsaces Arsacid

Thanks for the chapter
