Chapter 87 of Shrouded Destiny (SD) is out for Squires!

Oh look, another big chapter and people are dying again... <inserts a clever line I'm too tired to think of right now>. Chapter might be early but it might be a bit iffy and require some polish., my mind is half-drifting to irl issues that demand my attention again.

Gimme some feedback or note if anything irks you in the comments below.

Anyway, you can read the previous chapters in the collection

Jon is very wary of crowns and thrones. To elaborate further, no, I already have a king-Jon story, and this one won't be another.

Gladiusx

I thought of adding it here, but it's not something I can cram or would stylistically fit in the heavy war-consequences-chapter. There will definitely be a scene.

Gladiusx

This is easily my favorite Jon Snow in all of fanfiction.

TheMackAttack

Another amazing chapter. The only feedback is I would have added some softer moments. This is all war and politics, which is great. But this is the first time Jon has been reunited with family in forever and last time he hadn’t thought they were real. A tender moment of him introducing them to his family, or meeting the new babies would be nice. I feel like seeing Robb’s son would especially be nice since Robb didn’t get to live long enough in the OG timeline to have any.

ND518

Well yeah sure i'll buy into that thought process.. but like time and place you know? Would feel more natural as a reflection after the fact, maybe when jon has already left for the iron isles.

DiscoT

I’m sayin Jon army only follows his orders idk if his army stronger but seeing as he has Giants and direwolves there’s no telling but I do wonder is Jon goin to take the throne or not ? 🤔

Tasjuan Hampton

They actually can command Jon (in theory), because they called the muster, and Jon Snow has no authority of his own to command any armies in the North. Obviously not in practice after his string of victories. Jon chooses the least troublesome option and doesn't clash over pride.

Gladiusx

Successful generals with loyal base, skills, and claims to crowns are historically very distrusted lmao. They would be dumb af if they weren't wary on at least a basic level. That's Myrcella. Catelyn is grateful, but she's grieving far more.

Gladiusx

Myrcella sorry but Val outclass you in everything 😂 but I do feel like Myrcella and Cat ungrateful plus you can’t command Jon at all he over all of u🤔

Tasjuan Hampton

I dunno both Catelyn and Myrcella feel really ungrateful in this chapter. Jon literally saved their asses from a fate worse than death and Myrcella's mind goes to that he's "troublesome".

DiscoT

They had a Trial by Seven to determine who would be the regent to Robin Arryn. Royce on one side, with all the people who wanted to support Joffery. Waynwood on the other wanting to stay out of it. But just like modern politics, that wasn’t a promise she had to stick to. She became the recognized regent by the majority of Vale Lords, so if she decides to go against her promise to stay out of the war to support Aegon, then she can.

JaxonGold

I feel like a little scene or mention of Jon visiting his new nephew and siblings would be appropriate. Maybe after Arya's funeral. Tyftc. Jon continues doing Hero of Legend shit 😁

Yeno Memevig

Thanks for the chapter

Ulquiorra Schiffer

I thought that too! But also didn’t they have a trial by seven that decided things? The Vale is pretty religious I think

Jon “that is not my job” Snow deciding that his next move is to kill more ironborn made me facepalm! He’s not even gonna enjoy saving Winterfell with a nice staycation in the castle? And Myrcella asking questions about the future… He’s like pick a castle?! There’s a WAR on!! 😭 I wonder if Jon’s daughter ends up the next Lady of Winterfell. Myrcella seemed focused on all the clout he’s gained with the lords. I’m so torn over Catelyn learning about Arya’s fate… in general I think Val is right about a lot of stuff though. Idk if she would learn about it on her own. I don’t see her delving into the magic of the Starks or spending too much time with people like the wildlings or Melisandre. Melisandre is nuts but did bring up a good point about all magic being against the faith and it’s very clear to everyone that the Starks are magic. I fear she’s gonna get her way LMAO I can see the Old Gods being popular in parts of Essos too tbh. Myrcella/Jon would’ve been interesting in another life, but I quite like this one. Val shaving Desmera’s head every week KILLED ME! Oh she HATES her! Good thing she can’t read minds or else there would be a lot of bald headed people in the North. Sansa breaking down was so sad. Even her new ice couldn’t fix the tragedy they’ve faced. At least she let herself start letting all that grief out. And preserving Arya with ice was so macabre! Very Halloween vibes 😭 But I’m glad she has the honor of an awesome ice sword. She would have loved that.

Happy

It’s a little unclear on the timing, but I think Waynwood made the decision for her own prestige (whatever Aegon and council promised her) without knowing how bad a decision it was. She probably declared before news of Ned Stark and Tommen returning to Westeros came. And definitely declared before news of Jon Snow killing 2 kings came. She thought the North was on the brink of collapse, so why not go to the “obviously” winning side of Aegon?

JaxonGold

A hell of a chapter! I can't wait for Ned to make Dorne have a new asshole, hopefully in the next chapter! Also really funny moment when I was about done and then saw that Gladiusx wasn't done tweaking the ending there lol.

Kage_at_Fap

I was waiting for this chapter and it did not disappoint. I wished Baelors death was shown or more of the battle from the Reachmans POV but the end result was (chefs kiss). I'm excited to see how you wrap up all these storylines. I can't say I understand why the Vale decided to join Aegon (other than he needs more men to make any fight with robb/edmure/ned to be anything but a forgone conclusion). their liege lord is still related to the starks and all of them have denounced Aegon as a mummer, but I'll hold off judgment to see where you go with it.

Trevor macDonald

I love watching jon snow triumphant

adam Beyene

Well Jon did what Jon does. Ned did literally think ‘Jon has the North in hand’ and boy fucking did he. Thought we’d get more of a scene for Baelor’s death though. Interesting developments in the Vale. Wonder how that’s gonna go for Anya. Poorly I suspect. Damn Aegon got doubly disavowed. That’s brutal. Anyway… Lastly I don’t think I ever thought about Val’s ancestry but holy shit yeah she really is a dragon blood. Don’t remember if it was brought up in the story before, but that’s got to be some shenanigans of fate.

Based_Bass

Ah yes! Thank you thank you!

Cass W

Gods I can't wait for the Robb vs Aegon meet and greet. Please tell me we get it soon. Yes my boy Jon gives Hightower what he deserves 👏 🙌

Jacob Hall

Chapter 78, Lady gave her the key to the box where Ned had left Jon's letter.

Gladiusx

Wait, when did Jon’s parentage get revealed again? I completely forgot how Myrcella found out

Cass W

Great chapter. I found one error: "Jon Snow seemed to be the only one who could rein in the little helion." Should be hellion.

Perraup

The Starks (and their spouses) are cold as ice.

Velyndin1989

The highly anticipated battle for Winterfell took place and there were "skulls for the skull throne" A+ Jon continues to collect nicknames, you would think the Hightowers would know what was waiting for them...oh they tried to surrender...Robb just has other plans...Ned plays a bit with fire and ships. Overall an excellent chapter!

Grimgoth

Oh man what a chapter.
