I’m doing a Re-read, it’s interesting how Kevan is like “Stark must be an ambitious and cunning man under all that honorable non sense”, without realizing it is in fact his honor and integrity that had afforded the trust and loyalty from his subjects, which paved his success. I guess it is true men see what they want to see and always assume others are the same as them.

2024-11-16 17:51:41 +0000 UTCI just reread chapter 5, and it seems Ned’s references to Ashara during his conversation with Robb contradict Ned’s statements about Ashara to Nymeria. Retcon needed? Because I doubt Ned would have planned to wed Ashara if she had already been impregnated by Brandon.

Garlan slowly losing his honor and Mel becoming a priestess of the old gods is a fantastic idea, and I think you've executed them beautifully. The only bad part of this chapter was it ended and I have to wait until next Sunday

2024-10-15 03:55:52 +0000 UTCA bit slow but good filler nonetheless. Interesting POV from Nymeria towards Eddard "Gaze upon me and despair" Stark. And nice to see Shireen "Stannis" Baratheon is true to her blood. Can't wait to see what Eddard will do to Penthos and Dorne. He is apparently still receiving information from Rickon, not surprising considering the amount of people Jon "Skull-stacker" Snow has been killing. Will also be interesting to see what happens to the new Myr after Eddard leaves. Good POV from Garlan, though too short for my liking. And also good to read the kind of devastation left after Renly and the plague have ravaged Kings Landing. Makes it more visceral. Hoping to read about the clash between Jon "Otherbane" Snow and the Hightower/Redwyne maniacs soon.

2024-10-14 12:58:38 +0000 UTCLoved Nym’s POV! She’s a bit rude but she’s a new mother so I don’t hold it against her 😭 Every pov has been shattered by this war in some way. And a lot of people have the Martell’s in their crosshairs! I don’t think there’s any way for Nymeria to help them even if she wanted to. The reason the Myrish ppl have chosen to put themselves behind Ned Stark makes so much sense in this chapter. Who would want to fight the Heartless? He’s a good shield to stand behind… seeing how everyone has fared now that their various protectors have fallen makes Ned all the more appealing. Great chapter! Thanks for sharing 💐

Those first few chapters he goes from a smart but slightly naive boy who is excited for his first battles - realizing what war can become when emotions and religion are involved - only fighting anymore because his kin is in too deep - fuck the war effort I'm trying to keep my honour and do some good - everything has gone to shit, it's time to join everyone else in being ruthless for vengeance.

He is not one to be afraid to speak truth and somewhere have some ideas from Ned as to where Shireen can develop her role.

2024-10-14 06:01:22 +0000 UTCGood chapter. I think this Garlan arc has some of the best character development I’ve seen you write. A good man who starts out a bit naive to the world, who then suffers one demoralizing event after another, and learns that the honor and chivalry he holds dear has been trampled on so many times as to be rendered worthless. Garlan’s self loathing and hatred for what the world has made him become is beyond compelling. At this point I think that if he could do, or even witness, one last honorable act, he could die at peace. Maybe it would involve a trip to Lys? Really fascinating stuff.
