Yep, next week.

Is the next chapter releasing this week?

I can give you a couple of interpretations: 1) Jon broke the Targaryens that were about to unite the Seven Kingdoms on his lonesome, thus Jon the Breaker. 2) Jon was the first king to successfully broke off a king from the Seven Kingdoms, thus starting the snowball effect that broke the Seven Kingdoms 3) Jon has more things to break, that you have yet to see.

Gladiusx

Why is Jon called the Breaker? How is he responsible for the other kingdoms declaring independence from the Iron throne?

TyrantGod

Here we have rational Jon and semi-rational world, this means that 99% of uplift stuff popular in many fics will not work. With low productivity of agriculture and unstable seasons 99.9% of modern things are just not feasible.. Problem of Westeros is ustable seasons, this instability makes being conservative paramount to survive. If in modern world "Lord" of company fucks up, company goes bankrupt and people go to other job. If Westeros Lord fucks REALLY hard - his peasants die and hid territory can be conquered by other Lords... Furthermore ONLY place that I can see starting capitalism in nearby 1000 years is Braavos...

Does he care? Right now, Jon can destroy your average modern country alone, and he'll only grow more powerful as time passes (that's without the dragon). Development is driven by competition or happens as a response to outside forces/factors. While the North is neutral politically, it seems intent on bunking on trade - which means it's not isolated and it keeps interacting with the outside. As for progress, it's a gradual, arduous process - what Jon just did is place the groundwork for future progress based on current issues, not pushing progress for progress' sake (which rarely ends well). I've stated this a million times and will state it again - this was never an uplift fic. And lastly, neither Harry nor Jon were masters of economy or modern administration, not that that is Jon's goal. He is jaded and genuinely doesn't care about random people. He will do his kingly duties well enough - but no more. Jon's willingness to bear the crown and govern the North is solely due to the continued well-being of House Stark. It's also a feudal society, so he will simply avoid creating too many powerful vassals while aiming to increase the power of House Stark. In essence, Jon's willing to move things forward as long as it is beneficial to House Stark without mudding the waters too much. Complacency is only human, after all.

Tallhart is not the North but a masterly house (northern equivalent of landed knights). Not only that, but Brandon is from a cadet branch (cousin to the mainline). So Tallhart's involvement means nothing. Why did Shireen arrange that marriage? To smack Arianne for making eyes at her husband and to cut off her ability to make marriage alliances. The fact that the doll that gave her grayscale came from a dornish merchant is extra. Was she being petty? Absolutely! Does Shireen care? No.

Gladiusx

Also, Jon’s attempt to keep the North underdeveloped seems shortsighted. Eventually with the progress of civilization, developments similar to Earth is bound to occur so why not initiate some of the developments and control them? His logic seems similar to the Tokugawa shogunate before the arrival of American ships. Eventually, the outside world is going to affect the north so why not forge a powerful north that can last centuries

TyrantGod

What I don’t get is why have talhart get married to martell & follow a non-intervention policy? There seems have been no benefits from the marriage and future fostering promise now that Dorne has been lost to Yornwood. What did Shireen hope to achieve?

TyrantGod

I like it!
