Sorry for the late reply!
Yeah, the letter written in blood that Jon left? Stating that Jon's Lyanna's bastard son with Rhaegar, along with other stuff. Ned called Howland ( the only person alive who knew) and asked him if he had told Jon.
Seeing that he didn't, the only way was if Jon had somehow foreseen it(weird magic warning?) or was speaking the truth (even weirded magic warning?). Howland was convinced Jon wasn't entirely mad, and it was better to prepare for the vague warnings that Jon left(vague because Jon knew most of the stuff third/fourth hand, discluding what happened at the Night's Watch.

I’m confused I thought Ned just thought he was crazy. And didn’t believe jon about anything. Did I miss a chapter?

Nope, Jon won't spend the entire story North of the Wall, about less than half at most. Jon wants to strike first at the Others and break their image of 'invincibility'. He already warned Ned, who is far more experienced than him. Also, Jon's kinda escaping right now. He's escaping his past and his family and is doing that by going down a familiar route - fighting the Others.
Jon's not a perfect character here, he's very much traumatized and has become a lone wolf in almost every sense of the word(there are hints of this, and this will be further illustrated down the line). This will naturally have consequences down the line.
War is still brewing on the horizon, but it will have little to do with the War of the Five Kings.

That is true, but there's a single issue here, Jon is ill-equipped to bring a wight in. That would be the duty of the Night's Watch.

I wonder if Jon will spend the entire story, or at least most of it, north of the wall. It would separate him from anything Stark related.
It would also keep him away if there’s another war of the 5 kings, which I have trouble wrapping my head around considering the hell it caused the Starks. It would feel a bit mercenary for Jon to let his family fall apart like last time, even acknowledging the Others are the biggest threat.

Guess that makes sense; even if I still dislike it. A letter does little. A wight does a lot.

The thing is, the letter left to Ned is a good chunk of his preparation. Arm and prepare the watch to do what they were created to do, you know. But Jon cannot really do anything for the Watch unless he joins it, and that would put him as a useless recruit, basically. Thus the letter to Ned, who can do a lot more.
It's not like he doesn't have a backup plan, but it's vague and very much on the fly, depending on how things go.
The thing is, Jon is not omniscient and is most definitely biased, and it shows. He will try to do the most optimal thing in his own mind, based on his own experiences, but that does not mean it's the thing that's the most effective etc.

And I get what your saying about fighting beyond the wall and how the southerners would suck, but is Jon not preparing for the fact the offensive might not work? That a defensive battle might happen?
That’s where my thoughts have gone at least. That a offensive battle won’t work and preparing to defend the wall. Hope that clear up my comments.

Jon’s already going beyond the wall to arm the windings. Seems sorta dumb for him to not grab proof (a wight) of the threat while he’s already there🤷. Any chance to gain swords or credence to go against the threat seems like an opportunity Jon would gladly take, even if that help once gained would take time to bear fruit

That would require Jon to teleport; he won't be able to. A wight would be good proof to Bobby B, but Jon has no way of knowing that. In Jon's memory, Bobby B was just a fat dude who drank and whored a lot and got killed by a pig on a hunt.
Jon lost faith in the South and never factored them in any way, if you read carefully, you'll see that his plan is basically to have the wildlings fight the Others instead of futilely trying to invade the North.

Jon's plan does not rely on external factors, though. He plans to arm the Free Folk/Wildlings with the knowledge, and possibly the tools to face off against the Others, instead of blindly trying to kill themselves in a poor attempt to take over the Wall.
Any organised help from the far south would take many months to happen, at the low chance that he manages to convince people of anything, the southerners are ill-prepared to fight beyond the Wall.

Hah Jon showing up with a wight in Winterfell during the Royal feast would be badass. I personally don’t like Robert, but he’s a warrior king and would get back into shape to fight the others.
In my unbiased opinion he’d be one of the best leaders against them, alas, daggers in the dark can be more dangerous to men than white walkers.
