Some notes on what we are doing and why this took so long.
AI video experiment (failed)
We tried AI video tech, but it's not entirely there although close.
If it has any flaw at all, I don't want to use it.
On using AI
We did experiment a lot with very new AI tech, literally every month there are new developments.
We're finally at a point where we can do any scene, any scenario, with consistent characters for AI images.
This is solving storytelling limitations and improving visual coherency.
Combine a few images, and you can do rough animations, like cumshots, a hand going up and down, etc.
Please let me know how you like this style of video.
This is definitely just the start.
When AI video finally reaches AI image level quality, we will literally be able to make spotless productions that would be on the level of a 20 person animation studios.
I'm very excited for this future.
Can you imagine derpixion, possibly even Pixar, or Disney level quality, but for a JOI video?
Also just to note, I still want to use non AI content, primarily high quality videos.
But the problem is that the style is often completely different from the images.
Even if you use non AI images, style inconsistency is a big issue.
It takes away from the immersiveness in my opinion.
But if we can make it fit, then we will still use it.
Especially since it may be a while longer for AI video to catch up.
Pivot after playtester feedback
One additional reason for the long delay was that after playtester feedback, it was clear the video was not up to par.
We added the entire JOI stroking/facial section, and some other additions, which improved the flow a lot.
Every time we do a major change, it requires entire new voice over, entire new SFX, all with their own lead times.
So ideally going forward, I want to make our storyboards way more detailed and prevent doing too many pivots.
Like I was laughing at myself when I finally exported a version of the video into a folder called "final". I know that when I watch the video back, I am going to see 10 points to improve, so it's a bit of a joke.
(There were 9 more versions after I made the "final" folder.)
A video is never going to be perfect, the only thing we can do is take the learnings of the video, and use it to make the next video better, and repeat that process.
Going forward: always having 2 storyboards ready
Besides that, we need to work on 2 storyboards at all times.
It's clear we will never catch up if we work on one project at a time.
Personal stuff
Holiday season definitely slowed us down too, and I was sick multiple times.
Who knew working 7 days a week, 12+ hours a day would be bad for your health?
I'm literally drinking a vitamin supplement thing as I'm writing this, I will try to be a bit more careful with my health.
You should probably be more careful too you know, health never matters until it's the only thing that matters.

We are getting close to a closed beta which you will be able to try for free.
(If you are a staff subscriber or higher.)
The reason why the development of this is faster than JOIQuest, is mainly the raw amount of creative assets JOIQuest requires.
The writing, the pixel art, the backgrounds, character designs, sprites, adult scenes, ect. it all has to be made by hand, along with a lot more creative work, and world building.
Compared to just making our figma designs a real thing, and solving technical problems.
So expect an announcement on JOI.GG very soon, I would say within 2 months, possibly even 1 month from now.
But you know me, I'm not the best with deadlines, it always takes longer than expected, because I care about getting the details right.
(Possibly to a fault.)
JOIQuest
I don't want to make this a GTA 6 type situation, but yeah, we have not come this far to release something unpolished.
You can make it infinitely big, but if it does not feel polished and alive, what is the point?
Also our upcoming release is definitely not a final version of the game to be clear, it is a limited first version, to show what a full version could be.
Making more videos
My goal is to be able to make at least 1 video a month, in a dream world possibly 1 every 2 weeks.
But there are multiple bottlenecks, some technical, others creative.
Every image you see in this video had to be made.
You would think "oh it's just AI, you write a prompt and you get a perfect image".
It is definitely not (yet) that simple.
Every image, expression change, alternative position, cumshot, background, ect. takes anywhere from 10m to 1h+ to make, and we use hundreds per production.
Then besides AI, we have the editing, writing, and creative direction.
Not to mention all the work on joiquest and joi.gg.
So all that to say, if I want to make more videos at a faster rate, I need skilled, and creative people to help me.
If you have a lot of time on your hands, looking for work, and are qualified in either writing, video editing, AI image or video generation, web development, ect.
