Yeahhhhh everyone grieves and deals with hardship in their own ways; there's some useful guidelines to go by, in order to help make sure people aren't responding to it in self-destructive ways, but even then, it's just that: guidelines. If that's the way you needed to handle that situation, then that's the way you should've been allowed to.

sometimes the hardest part is dealing with how people expect you to be acting. I just had both my parents die on me 6 months apart last year while i'm still in my 20s. i was dealing with it fine but people kept coming to me expecting me to break down or something. the fact that i was fine only seemed to worry people more like they couldn't except that i could move on so fast, one sibling going so far as to say "i guess you just didin't care about them." it got to the point that the worst part about my parents dying was peoples emotional expectation of me. i wasn't allowed to be fine, and the more i said i was fine to them they saw that as meaning i was worst. I'd say the issue is people can only see situations from their own perspective and how it would emotionally make them feel, not considering that maybe people deal with things different then others. it's not about not feeling things or bottling things up, it's about being strong enough to not let things drag you down so you can keep on living life. Maybe this wont make sense to most with how generally emotional people are but sometimes when people say they are okay they really are okay and they should not project their own feelings onto others.

I think I get it though. It takes an absolutely absurd amount of trust to completely shatter in front of someone. Vizlet is still mostly an unknown to Kass, so it makes sense to hold off from really letting go.
