The Out-Of-Placers #93

The Ivenmoth Redcloak is purposely designed to be stiff and worn somewhat loose, for various reasons. Perhaps the biggest reason is because this allows its wearers to conceal their weapons and armor underneath.

Not every recruit is given a full set of protective plate or chainmail, especially since low-level recruits sometimes join up for a few days' worth of food and shelter before taking off in the night with whatever equipment they've been given.

It also allows the higher-ranked and otherwise important members to wear full sets of armor and still blend in with the rest, making it hard for would-be thieves or assassins to tell  who's got the Good Stuff.

On the flipside, it means that any random drunkard or malcontent wanting to take out their frustrations on the local enforcers cannot be sure if their intended target is wearing something underneath that could stop a blade or blunt a club strike, or where the armored vs. exposed points might be.

This also gives the entire force an advantage, in that House Ivenmoth can spread out its equipment thinly, and still (mostly) force a would-be attacker to deal with an extra element of uncertainty, in that they cannot be certain exactly what they'll be getting into.

Redcloaks: a versatile solution for a budget-conscious guard force!

He will be the hero of the Yinglets. :3 He will lead them to glory and wealth and ever lasting peace. xD

The last two pages have been bugging me a bit artwise. Namely, where Brakka's arms went between the las two panels of the previous page, where the 2 'troubled' henchmans when in between comics and why is the punted yinglet upside down. I suppose time passing can very well explain the first two, but the last one still has me boggled since the upper body isn't twisted for him to be spinning backwards in order to keep the jaw pointed up. Maybe art error or style choice, but lets assume not, for some fun thinking. Presuming it's not to just keep the details to a minimum (against virtually all probabilities), the whole alley scene seems to be limited only on to what Kassen would be able to focus and recall. To put the mad speculation short, we could interpret this whole part with the boys only appearing to be seen or heard by Kass as a retelling. Of course, this would only have any credence if, in the next few pages, some more and more flagrant exagerations can be spoted, hinting at a mind being traumatized. Again, I just wanted to put some fun morning thoughts out there.

Elim has firmly established himself as a Determinator. Now if only his getting run through doesn't prove fatal... (Not likely, given the apparent level of medical knowledge in this setting.)

Vicroc4

I'd prefer it if Elim did not die

Loxen86

I was hoping he Elim would arrive with reinforcements. Looks like he may not need them, though.

Estragon

Can't keep a good soldier down, huh?

Tygepc

Someone's about to catch a clubberin'!

steelabjur

In zhe deceptive nature of zhe cloaks; even in today's MIRV equipped ICBM's, zhere are a number of extra "MIRVs" zhat are mere dummies, forcing zhe defenders to waste zheir defensive resources, increasing zhe chances of some of zhe real ones surviving to reach zheir targets.

Zhe Missing Drake

Elim may very well have sealed his fate wizh zhis action. But in doing so, he may also have saved Kass from a more terrible fate. Whatever his future may now be, or if he even has one, Elim is absolutely and forever a hero!

Zhe Missing Drake

Awww Kass didnt want Elim to come after her despite the danger shes in. She really cares about him.

Teether

So, Elim's got ye olde bulletproof(stabproof) greatcoat. More or less.

Matthew Vandiver

It's not murder if you're animated solely by a mix of white hot revenge and desire to protect. * I am not a lawyer, mistaking this post for legal advice will likely get you convicted of murder.

ArcadeDragon

I don't think Yinglets have that much. He's gonna need some from all them guys over there.

ArcadeDragon

Is what Elim might've said if doing so wouldn't have caused him to pass out.

ArcadeDragon

While I can not deny Elim being a total bro for Kass, but damn it man you've got a sharpened hunk of rusty metal poking through you, probably hit the stomach or intestines too for that matter. Also that description about the Ivenmoth guards is pretty damn cool.

Don't know about his constitution score, might just be some hot dice on that saving throw. He should risk one more toss... Rolls a 20 for a saving throw Rolls a 20 on bluff check "Silly scavs. By getting stabbed in small amounts over years I've built up an immunity to blades!" Yinglets scatter in fear. Problem solved! Except the bleeding. That problem hasn't been solved.

ArcadeDragon

That's pretty smart of the Reds to use their gear effectively like that! Too bad it doesn't do much against enemies incapable of planning more than one move at a time.

ArcadeDragon

I was just about to sell the tickets XD

Oooook...those are the eyes of cold blooded murder.

Nero Alred

Whoa! Someone's got a freaky high CON stat! I like how grim and could-fall-over-any-moment his expression and stance are. He really does look like a brute now.

Thorin N. Tatge

This can’t go well

Jaws18301

In addition to the club, Elim was also concealing a can off whoop-ass, which he has now opened.

Ngrasta

Heh. Nice work, Elim. You're gonna need more blood though. Try taking that guy's.

Vodyanoi

Elim, you magnificent bastard! Best boy makes a comeback!

Enth

Also, in combination with the Brown Trousers they show neither wounds nor fear!
