The Out-of-Placers #89

We are all wondering. But we appear to be at a point where everyone is "sidelined". Indeed, zhe story now appears to be at a critical juncture, where nearly all zhe main characters are now on separate lines and locations, away from each ozher. Only Ran and Lopin were still togezher when we left zhem. Its just zhat sort of critical point, wizh multiple crossroads, where zhe story will likely set its pazh, which could be any of zhem. And it is usually at such points zhat zhe pace of zhe story may be expected to "pick-up", as zhe dispersed characters must now reunite, probably first as pairs or trios, to tend to critical tasks. Zhen again into larger groups, to take on zhe longer-range, and ultimately greater tasks. One such - and zhe most immediate - being to rescue & treat Elim. And zhen, upon learning what happened, to try to find and rescue Kass. And wizh zhe Kass & Brakka "reunion", we may expect zhem to be zhe ones to choose from zhe many crossroads before us, to set zhe story on its critical pazh. Zhere is maybe somezhing else, a LOT more else. But I zhink I should stop wizh zhe maybes & somezhings and elses for now.

At least, I don't see anything in any previous panel that makes it obvious that this is a survivable wound, despite Kass telling Elim to get medical help.

I would contend that page 88 in no way makes it obvious from Kass's perspective that Elim is still alive. We know that, Kass does not know that.

Also anyone else wondering if the guy who got stabbed is even alive? Seems he got side lined, probably bleeding out?

To Latency. Are you able to view page 88? (it was accidentally labeled page 87, and zhe process of correcting it somehow locked it out to non-pledged patrons). If you are not able to view it, panel two in it gives some dialogue from Kass zhat *might* give a little more perspective. I feel like Kass is less likely setting a trap here and more likely experiencing a bit of scav-brainedness. Safe to say that neither of them quite expected the interrogation to go this way. Were Kass a normal scav (and not female to boot), they'd probably be about a half-minute away from a good humpin'. As it is, I expect him to remember that, as far as he knows, they just KILLED ELIM, and be a bit less cooperative? I mean, I love this comic but this scene doesn't make a lot of sense considering that... yeah... Elim might well be dead right now. I'd expect a different response from Kass.

A very slicey-dicey situation. Kass could be setting a trap, calculating every word, and playing Brakka like a violin! Or she could be on zhe verge of slipping-up and revealing information zhat could spell disaster for her, Elim, Lopin, zhe Enclave, and all of Val-Salia! Will Kass survive zhe ratfink wizh zhe runny eye? Will Elim survive zhe rugrat wizh zhe runny nose? Will our "dumb little rat" survive zhe running inquiries of Ran Ste-Su G'Mindel? Should we maybe ask zhe Oracle of Bakersroof? ?...! ??...!!! ???...

This is a clever approach to the interrogation I hadn't thought of! Kass seems to be getting a much better position by blaming Brakka and Lopin before answering the question. It's probably impulsive, rather than tactically considered, but quick-witted either way. Now when he tells Brakka the artifact is gone, he'll be as likely to blame Lopin as to blame Kass. And Lopin, at least, is safe in the tower, we hope.

On the last panel, what is that with Brakka's eye? It looks like an "y" rather than the normal slit. I like the red eyed one.

Aww, it's so cute seeing them grow closer over their mutual Contempt of rhe prettiest boy. Also, been noticing how similar Kass' and Brakka's markings are. yellow eyes, fur on the forearm, color patterns, even the shell tooth and side teeth are super similar. Coincidence, or related to Brakka havining possession of the artifact?
