V0.8 Progress Update #1

Been a while since I've written a progress update, but progress is progressin'.

First, I want to talk about the two polls that are running. One to decide who is going to get extra content, and one that'll decide who will get less content. As well as the previous poll I ran about having a side content update.

I'll start by saying that update is V0.8. As a result of that, the polls are currently showing Imry is winning the bonus content poll, while Serena is "winning" on the reduced content poll. As a result, this likely means that Imry will get 2 story scenes this update, while Serena will get none. Everyone else will get 1.

For reference, I usually give everyone 2 scenes, with one getting 3, and another getting 1. This time though I'll be using the extra time to add in side content. This is stuff such as photoshoots, around the house interactions and side characters. None of the side content scenes will be particularly long, but I'm hoping to get a lot of them in. If anyone has any suggestions for short side content they'd like to see, let me know. (Preferably that fits within existing repeatable interactions).

I also intend to use this update as a chance to update the replay galleries, and update the character bios with the characters stories so far.

Finally, I've been considering looking into adding music into the game. I personally never play games with music on. The exception is Stardew Valley, because that has great music. Most of the time though, I just mute music. So to me, it's not something I really care too much about, but I'm curious how players feel. Would music make much difference to you? Is it something you'd like me to spend time implementing? As it would take time away from developing other content to update everything with music.

Comments

Music is tricky. For me, it DEFINITELY makes the game better when it is done right. BUT without a background in music, it's very hard to get right. So it's a toss up, really.

I usually leave music on just lowering the volume so it's in the background and not drowning out anything else. Depending in the game it can help the experience and the right volume.
