Nega Garth's class

Curently writing his POV and I'm about to give him one,  so I thought I'd throw a few possibles out there, see what sticks. As always, if you have an awesome idea, please leave it in the comments.

and yes, completely original classes are just as cool as cobbled together ones from other sources.

Enjoyed all of it!

Sorry to ramble 😅

Fleshweaver evolves into something like Inquisitor of Flesh, when NeGarth takes full patron status. Truth powers could also be fun re: getting information out of flesh like dead bodies or carved flesh that he consumes maybe? Can see the past of the flesh he consumes, like elves in Divinity?

PJ LeBlanc

Plus, ‘the light of truth’ and ‘sunlight is the best disinfectant’ could be mottos. And control over light doesn’t have to mean always being bright shining beacon - blinding spells, dispelling illusions, and removing or reflecting light in one area to take advantage of his Kipling darkvision (if that’s a thing).

PJ LeBlanc

It would be more challenging, writing wise, but you could even give NeGarth more power but hobble him to make him a true inverse Garth - he can’t tell lies at all. But, he gets EXTRAORDINARILY good at manipulating people via half truths, and he’s one of those ‘the truth shall set you free, and the truth is life is meaningless, so we might as well consume all we can’ nihilist bastard villains.

PJ LeBlanc

Also, I like the idea of a corruptor - an inverse druid, who gives death instead of life, who acts on flesh instead of plants. Garth’s domains are life giving, plants and darkness? Nega-Garth has life-taking, flesh, and light. “Sunlight is the best disinfectant.” Either that, or because Garth is all about preparation and environmental adaptations Nega-Garth could have his changes to flesh be more difficult to control - and he uses evolution and the law of large numbers to create abominations, powered by instinct, that do the things he needs. The Kiplings being an endless immortal horde, and NeGarth being a sadistic asshole, would greatly lend itself to the ‘uncaring chessmaster overlord’ of that motif.

PJ LeBlanc

It might be interesting to have Kipling’s have ‘Old Ones’ that are the sources of parts of their base instinctual drives Godly counterparts, but much more base level, ‘primitive’, works better with the ‘consuming single-minded horde’

PJ LeBlanc

I like the idea that NegaGarth is like an illithid. He doesn't get powers from eating but improves his knowledge. Seems more Garthlike

IMO, the Flesh Monger idea could be good but would need to be nerfed a little...maybe he would need to eat a certain portion or a percentage of the body…? He’d quickly become too OP if all he had to do was take a bite of his enemies to get their power even if there was a ‘digesting’ period. The Fleshweaver concept is also a solid one but those power types usually devolve into the character losing site of self and it would be a sad thing to lose Nega Garth. With that said, I like John Carpenter’s idea the most with powers being tied to the particular shape/identity the thing was currently wearing.

lol!

Let's call it what it is and admit you just wanna do a "Teeth" reference. Vagina Dentata is your kink you perv.

Gardor

how do you guys feel about a build based on john carpenter's 'The Thing'?

Macronomicon

Garth *did* have a stray thought about "it's normally the bad guys who alter their own bodies" when he was putting in his teleport device - I could totally see Nega Garth thinking the same thing, and running with it because he knows he's a bad guy.

rwn

if we go Fleshweaver, it's gonna make Garth's look like childs play. we're talking Kronenburg level stuff. and not only to himself.

Macronomicon

I have no idea! i'm leaning no, but who knows where this will take us.

Macronomicon

Do Kipling's have Gods?

Gardor

Absorption powers are one of my faves but might be too OP for this story, especially since Kipling's just want to eat stuff anyway. Voting for fleshweaver. Kinda similar to Garth using plant control on his body, and as much as I'd like to see NeGarth have totally unique abilities it makes sense they'd have similar inclinations. Or make em as different as possible I dunno.
