Took me a while, but I really like how the chapter turned out in the end. Hope you enjoy.

TBH, the level to which Domagoj ekes out suspenseful plot elements for *aeons* is part of the attraction for me. Same goes for OP powers. We’ve got a loooooooooong way to go, and I kinda love knowing there’s so much epic magic still to be uncovered. (But yes, I’m also 100% drooling to see it immediately, yesterday preferably. 😅😂)

2024-04-06 01:45:11 +0000 UTCI finally took the time to binge all 10 chapters (huge thanks to Jack’s audiobook reading; got me invested enough to sit still & read for the first time in **years**) and I am so damn excited for this story. Normally I avoid entire book series if they’re unfinished, because I’m so averse to delayed gratification 😅 I have a feeling this might be character-building 🤦♂️

One of my biggest plot turn-offs is stories that rely on characters crappy communication. When half a minute of honesty could avert half a book’s worth of drama - and the author hinges the tension on that disconnect - I legit can’t keep reading 😅

2024-04-05 12:13:52 +0000 UTCI feel like the little kid jumping up and down wanting to see flashy things, so I'm looking forward to Marcus using more magic again. For all his supposed strength he's not actually doing all that much of it.

2024-04-05 11:00:01 +0000 UTCIt's a good chapter! However I'd recommend putting a small Synopsis of the story at the beginning of the chapters for now because if each chapter is gonna be 4-6 weeks apart and there are only 10 out right now, it can get hard to remember what happened. Like shows do "last chapter we came to this and that conclusion etc." Because this pretty much is like a tv show if you look at it like that

2024-04-05 10:50:51 +0000 UTCYeah, I liked this one too. I get the feeling that Beortan's take on things wasn't a 100% accurate. He seems the straightforward type and surely reported the solid facts as they are, but when it comes to subtle political currents he might not grasp it as well. In his eyes when Gaius' rival for Consul was killed and he didn't investigate or punish anyone, it meant he probably did it. While there could easily be another political reason for it, such as him knowing full well who's responsible but it being someone he can't afford to start trouble with. I also get the feeling Marcus is greatly underestimating the influence he has just by being there with the implication that if anyone starts trouble with the Great Sea, they risk his involvement. Along with the prestige that comes with being his student. So things went better than expected, much to his bemusement. The fact he stated straight out with all apparent sincerity that running for Consul had been a mistake and he's now fine with how it ended up, probably helped too. You can just see all the considerations going on under the surface in the room.
