Alistair if you want an answer now that I’m caught up again: so far we only know Marcus is one of the currently unnamed ranks (7 and above). He only told the elders that he ‘advanced to the unification stage during my travels’, not confirming his rank is still 6th. Marcus said he didn’t want to ‘deceive’ Beortan so he confirmed that he’s ‘one step’ ahead (7th), yet Celer hinted that he’s at a point where he could ‘ascend to the Outer Planes’ pretty much immediately. So either ascension can take place from rank 7 or he’s even above that.

2024-02-26 20:07:03 +0000 UTCI could definitely do that, and I do search for various words regularly... I just didn't think I needed to search for 'Zorian'. :) I usually catch myself the moment I start writing it or when I just wrote it. This is the first time I just kind of glossed over it.

And yeah, you wrote MoL as a serial for almost ten years without really focusing on anything else, so not surprising writing Zorian turned into a habit. It's perfectly understandable. You could try searching the text for "Zorian" before you publish each chapter just to be safe? Most word processors let you do ctrl+F.

I actually catch myself writing 'Zorian' instead of Marcus at least once per chapter, but this time it somehow passed by both my own checks and those of my editor. Kind of funny because I don't think they're even remotely similar characters, but I still keep putting Zorian's name in the story.

2024-02-26 05:07:50 +0000 UTCFinally getting to see him return to the place he left and deal with the fallout of leaving back then. The byplay with his supported at the end was nice too. What the old man told him about needing to cap the number of students he takes is proving true already and he hasn't even found a place to set it up yet. BTW, you accidentally called Marcus "Zorian" at one point. Where he's describing Calvus looks and speculating that he's the supporter he had yet to meet. Made me do a double take.
