As usual, I'm posting this late in the evening and I'm technically late... after delaying the chapter once already. Thank you all for being patient with me anyway.
In other news, I'll try to finish some MoL worldbuilding (the article about shifters and transformation magic) in the next week or two, since I have been sitting on it for a while now and I don't know if I'll ever be fully happy with it. Better to have something rather than nothing.

I also find that whole "wood spells were as rare as hen's teeth" bit veeeery interesting. If I was a betting man, I'd wager that whole "joke" the Sacred Tree told him about the grandfather trees being punished by the gods for trying to destroy humanity and civilization was actually the simple truth. Refuge in audacity and all that. The Sacred Tree doesn't seem to hate humans so I'd guess it was spared for not joining the extermination, but still I'd be way of trusting it completely. Definitely the Spear of Resolve of this novel. Not malicious, but with an alien mindset and their own inscrutable goals. Be nice if he can persuade it to share some wood spells that he's lacking though, if only up to below the 5th rank so he can have a foundation to create his own higher level ones. That would be nice.
