Another Delay (1 Week) + Worldbuilding
Added 2019-08-31 22:56:14 +0000 UTCThe next chapter is delayed by a week again. The new target date is 8th of September (the Sunday after this one).
Yeah. I know.
Anyway. In an effort to distract you and myself from my continued failures to publish a chapter on time, I decided to do some worldbuilding. Yes, worldbuilding! I bet a lot of you forgot this was even a thing, considering I haven't posted any worldbuilding articles in over a year. In any case, I figured it might help inspire me to work more on the actual story. That part kind of didn't work, but it did help me relax and think about the story in a non-frustrating way, so I count it as a win.
Here are the three worldbuilding articles:

Thank you very much for expanding world building parts on the Dungeon and Monster Hunting, especially.
2019-09-13 14:29:09 +0000 UTCsame, I'm waiting so hard for the chapters, I shouldn't e_e
2019-09-08 18:15:45 +0000 UTCAhh, the weekend. Where i refresh every few hours on Saturday to see if there’s a delay, and then every few minutes on Sunday to see if the chapter has been posted.
2019-09-07 14:47:34 +0000 UTCI know. I lost half of my Master's Thesis (I think that's the correct term; the huge graduation research article thingy) once by doing just that. I accidentally overwrote the document with the version where I deleted everything. Horrible. In any case, I am effectively doing version backup, because I don't overwrite the previous backup whenever I do so - I just make another backup right next to it.

2019-09-07 09:43:23 +0000 UTCTake care to note they suggested version Ed backup, as do I. Backup that overwrites everything isn't super helpful when you accidentally delete a big chunk of some document and then backup the truncated version. Google drive (and probably Dropbox) support a type of that I think. There might even be some writer specific version of github (or just use github) that would be track changes. Github might actually not be a bad idea. You could give proofreaders access, and they could file issues about problems...

2019-09-07 06:49:10 +0000 UTCI didn't even know MyTetra exists until now, but I did try some other, similar programs and found them to be completely useless. They do nothing that properly organized nested folders cannot already do, and additional features they have are of no interest to me. On top of that, trying to switch all my existing files into a new system would be a monumental task, so I would basically have to manage two different systems instead of one. At least that has been my experience with programs like that.

2019-09-04 14:24:26 +0000 UTCWhat about MyTetra? This is convenient most of the time.
2019-09-04 11:42:51 +0000 UTCYes, I keep regular backups of everything I have ever written, no need to worry. :) I was taught a hard lesson about backup up my work a few times in the past, and I've been pretty diligent about it ever since.

2019-09-01 20:38:27 +0000 UTCPlease tell me you also have versioned backup! :) Anyways, I would actually rather have double the time between schedule if it meant more worldbuilding. I really love those, so that made my day. :)

2019-09-01 19:46:19 +0000 UTCPersonally, I just use nested folders and a lot of word documents for my world- and storybuilding. I haven't really found any app or way that works better for me than that.

2019-09-01 14:17:47 +0000 UTCHellow, Fellow writer here. I was wondering what app/format do you build your story on? Is there any better way to organize all the world building/notes/characters OTHER than google doc?
2019-09-01 10:44:56 +0000 UTCI was expecting another delay so a new worldbuilding post counts as a win for me too :D I hope you're not beating yourself up over those delays, you should know by now that everyone who has stuck with this story this far loves it enough to wait for the ending to be done right.

2019-09-01 08:43:21 +0000 UTCJust glad you are working on getting the ending done right.

2019-09-01 08:33:01 +0000 UTCWoop, woop! Thank you for the posts and glad to see that you are taking your time still! Would definitely rather see the ending being thought out than rushed and you satisfied with your work than stressed out and disappointed!

2019-08-31 23:44:49 +0000 UTCYay for positive thinking. =)
2019-08-31 23:42:19 +0000 UTCYeah, I didn't put that part in. A big oversight. I've added the following to the end of the first paragraph: "They possess highly developed soul sense, which they use to track down and judge potential mates. It is also useful for avoiding threats, though dirge moths are too poisonous for most things and rarely attacked." Hopefully that explains things better.
Domagoj Kurmaic
2019-08-31 23:33:41 +0000 UTCAt this point in the story, I am definitely more in favor of the chapter coming out right than on schedule. Take as long as you need to!

2019-08-31 23:14:53 +0000 UTCI really like the world building on the dirge moth as I was hoping when they were introduced it would explain what kind of existence would be part of a mass soul sight production, feels like i missed something though as the only real soul aspect felt like an offhand comment about them stealing souls of dying people and less of “this is what makes them so important to this potion!”

2019-08-31 23:09:45 +0000 UTCNice, I love these world-building posts. Don't fret the delay. The home stretch is always dicey---especially for the characters. :P
