The most open, vulnerable, and insightful you will see them get as a band, and really highlights their evolution as a band, but particularly Hayley's as a person and where she was at mentally during the making of the two.

2025-01-09 04:09:33 +0000 UTCimportant to note just how different this was from the previous work when it first released. coming to it after listening to the most recent album, it all makes sense, but when this first dropped it was pretty wild conceptually, and even more wild that they managed to pull it off so well. what a fantastic album, one of the last cds i ever bought before i fully made the transition away, and man was it worth it

2025-01-09 03:44:15 +0000 UTCYou guys should totally check out Paramore’s Self-Titled and Sudden Feeling by Halfnoise which is their drummer Zac’s solo album before he rejoined the band after being out for years. After Laughter personally hit me perfectly when it came out because it felt like the perfect mix of the lyrical writing and song structures of their self-titled mixed with the sounds Zac was expirimenting with at the time for his solo work. Was a lifelong Paramore fan by that point and this album dethroned Brand New Eyes as my favorite by them easily within a week of release. And the live show for this album was just perfect as well.

2025-01-08 20:25:39 +0000 UTCSomeone beat me to the punch with extra context for No Friend, but I always loved its inclusion after Idle Worship - Haley having the lead from her favorite band write a song about the history of her own right after a song about not worshipping your idols always felt like a self aware follow up to that. Mewithoutyou is my favorite band so it was shocking to hear Aaron show up. This and Brand New Eyes are my favorite paramore records!

Hayley is just a powerhouse of talent. I hope you guys listen to Brand New Eyes album. It was so impactful to me when it came out and I was young but it’s been an album I return to so often even now.

Also if you do ever get to see them live, do it!!!!! It is an experience like no other. Seeing them support Taylor here in the UK was extraordinary (BDTH is easily in my top 5 paramore releases but live it is a whooole other beast). So glad you love them!!

To this day i'm rewatching concert footage from this specific era, there was just something magical and emotional about the After Laughter tour. All the iconic weird dance moves from Hayley, Zac coming to the front and doing a song from his own personal band (HalfNoise), all the mashup songs and covers they did this era; Hard Times + Heart of Glass (+ one line from Genius of Love) Rose Colored Boy + I Wanna Dance With Somebody Grow Up + 20 Something Crushcrushcrush + Beat It (only once on Parahoy 2018) the drake cover they did (Passionfruit) the Fleetwood Mac cover they did (Everywhere) I can go on and on... ICONIC era!!! (for me)

(and i have to echo what everyone else has said, you need to hear hayley’s petals for armor (produced by taylor) and flowers for vases (which hayley has said comes between parts 1 & 2 of pfa) )

She also sang girls just wanna have fun twice. Once with Kacey Musgraves, and once with Cyndi herself just a few months ago. you guys should definitely check out brand new eyes next by them !

You guys might mention it in the video since Kevin said he follows them online.. but just in case he missed it. Might want to get into Petals For Armor and Flowers For Vases before tickets/tour dates get released etc. She was originally going to do small shows in 2020 before the pandemic ruined it all.. but getting tickets to that tour was BRUTAL. Just a heads up.. aaaand i will finish watching the reaction now.

It will likely give you a lot of insight to where she was personally at the time of AL and PFA. I feel like they sort of go hand in hand a bit. I was 26/27 when this album came out and was going through a really difficult time in my life. Depression was rearing it's ugly head in a major way and I always say that this album, Stuffed and Ready by Cherry Glazerr and When I Get Home by Solange saved my life. Also, I've seen them live and they're worth it. They show up and show out.

Very different vibe from his work with Paramore leaning on more of a synth-pop meets psychadelic rock kind of vibe. During their 2023 tour they weaved in a segment where they performed one of his tracks mid-set and it was sooo fun!

The sonic dichotomy of this album where *most* of it sounds kind of upbeat and danceable intertwined with such introspective, deep, and raw lyrics is Paramore. Tell Me How is one of my all-time favorite tracks for it's writing. Echoing what others have commented, I really hope you guys get around to listening to Hayley's solo stuff. 2025-01-05 04:28:33 +0000 UTCmy favourite album from my favourite band! i really enjoyed their live performances during this album cycle — love how they incorporated their influences into the live renditions of their songs (whitney houston’s ‘i wanna dance with somebody’ + tom tom club’s ‘genius of love’ in rose-colored boy, and blondie’s ‘heart of glass’ in hard times). the way they added percussion and switched up the groove when performing their older songs to fit their new sound was also brilliant. amazing release from an amazing group of artists. i could talk about this album forever tbh
