2023-11-26 08:33:31 +0000 UTCi'm 25 and i had never really sat down and listened to the album. i knew metro and a lot of the songs he'd produced, but didn't really know any of his 'solo' work. i think that's probably the common experience, unless you were really into rap (as in, top musical focus)

I ask because there are certain albums that were almost omnipresent when they came out and when we were like 16-19 (just as an arbitrary range) but it seems too never listened? Like this one for example, I was surprised to hear you had just heard it!

2023-11-20 16:58:11 +0000 UTCPer your question - I think you’d be surprised how many of us don’t view Heroes and Villains as some exceptional improvement relative to this album. Now, we recognize it’s character and speaking for myself consider it an amazing album, but have a much greater connection to this this one. It’s undoubtedly filled with a number of “classics” in the modern sense and if you listened when it dropped, it actually had more staying power than Heroes and Villains which you may find hard to believe. When you say “this album is good” we would say it’s “amazing”
