There were 9 death paintings wombs. The creator of the manga has confirmed that only these 3 will matter because they are the only special grade cursed objects (that’s why mahito only stole those 3 and not the rest). You might be wondering, "why have 9 exist if there are only 3 that are gonna be in the main story?". The reason that there are 9 in total is because, the 9 cursed wombs and their names (eso, kechizu, choso, etc.) are based on a concept in Japanese mythology called the 9 stages of decomposition.
