So glad you warmed up a little more to the project in the 2nd half! The project is definitely a grower and the more you listen, the more you will appreciate it. I think Faces was a good intro to the “Easy Mac with the Cheesy Raps” side of Mac’s artistry. In regards to the other projects that you haven’t listen to yet - it only goes up from here haha! Thanks for sharing guys. Was waiting on this listen. :)

Really glad you guys did the mixtape. One thing to add - throughout the two-parter there was a lot of talk about sampling, but I think it's important to note that Mac laid down a lot of his own melodies & chords too. This "behind the scenes" for the track Grand Finale, which has always been my favorite track on the project, gives you a glimpse of how he put some of these together. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p4ufTwERhcs

kevin ! if you haven't yet and are planning to listen to this project more, it's worth listening to the original mixtape version once or twice. the re-release on spotify certainly has better mixing, but there are a few samples from the original mixtape that didn't clear. most notably on polo jeans and wedding, but there are other transitions that add a ton of feeling to the project. they're movie samples that were super hard to clear. while not necessary to the songs themselves, they add a ton of atmosphere and context and tie everything together super well. i often find myself listening to the og mixtape version, even though its not as convenient, because of how much they add.
