Dad Reacts to Kanye West - Yeezus

Dad Reacts to Kanye West - Yeezus

Comments

Run the Jewels

Sergio Mendez

It’s funny you say at 35:51 that sometimes you write by feel, because it is 100% true that artists do that too. Pharell is a great example of that and he has said in interviews that he focuses on how to make the listener remember the feel more so than the lyrical content. But he did get sued by Marvin Gaye and LOST because it was too close to the ‘feel’ of one of his songs.

Czar

That’s just a work around to say Kanye was inspired by Kanye

Nick

i think they should do watch the throne later after they listen through donda

Dylan Hutchins

https://pitchfork.com/features/article/9157-the-yeezus-sessions/ I think Kevin would find this super fascinating.

Dylan V

gotta correct you. you said travis scott was inspired by this record. it’s the other way around. travis co-produced and co-wrote several of these songs on this album. it’s widely known now that kanye was inspired by travis on this record

Brendon

The Vimeo link is broken for me?

Molly

Dying to see the Pablo review

Muhammad Perez

This.

Nathan Mandjes

WATCH THE THRONE!! Gotta be done especially as Ye’s MBDTF era pre-Yeezus

Awande Buthelezi

1:10:53 should have been the thumbnail. I'm bricked up big time

Josiah Kane

Man I wish y'all would do more than 1 Kanye review a month At this rate we won't get all the Ye's in until Sept- if y'all include Watch the Throne and Cruel Summer...

Rudolph Patten

Lana Del Rey ultraviolence for my gf please

Ollie Chandler

Do Vince Staples

Josh Timko

SYRE would be an awesome reaction. Production makes it an absolute masterpiece

Jack Utsler

Your dad would love the instrumentals of Alt-J

Jayde Laws

We need a call me if you get lost reaction as well as the rest of kendricks discography!

The Stumblizer

Connor, have you heard any Francis and The Lights work (Kanye took him under his wing a few years back)? I’d love to hear you and your dad react to Farewell, Starlite! or Just For Us. I think your dad would love the 80s phil collins/peter gabriel sound that Francis brings.

Ryan (WaveReact)

would love a reaction to the new black country, new road album

Finlay Longhurst

Great thought. I attended the concert and it was great. Im sure they would enjoy the modification of the overall sound.

SanicRuns

HE NEEDS TO HEAR FRANK WITH DRUMS

Michael

I agree with Channel Orange,, IM SURPRISED MORE PEOPLE ARENT SAYING THIS

Michael

https://cafedelites.com/beef-cabbage-soup/

TTT

Kevin seems to really enjoy Mike Dean's production I'm curious what he would think of his hidden performance in the Larry Hoover Concert.

BeefShrimp69

Hey Charlie Wilson is an old guy He’s from the Gap band and he’s almost 70 by now I was surprised your dad hasn’t heard of him He also is on Cherry Bomb on F**king Young by Tyler and sampled for 911/Lonely on Flower Boy

TheSodaDrinkerPro

Bro dads reaction to "I'm in it" first beat was hilarious.

Jay

Kevin captured the feelings evoked from Blood On the Leaves perfectly — I’ve always felt like it’s a condensed movie.

Matt Johnson

will there be a watch the throne reaction?

Elijah Guevara

Absolutely illegal for Kevin to be on the right

David Montgomery

Death Grips - The Money Store would be an interesting episode

Wigglin_Harry

Oh man, don’t forget the Watch the Throne Era, Cruel Summer, & G.O.O.D Friday era of Kanye!!!

Andrew Huynh

i think cherry bomb would be perfect to follow this up

uhKalvin

Then what is?

christian cano

Post the cabbage soup recipe lol

Chris Callahan

Kevin for sure needs to hear them. Speeding Bullet saved me

PlatinumRMX

Bro. I’m up early. Went for a drive & I came to realize that Kevin needs GKMC in his life. Anyways, cheers to y’all. I really love the channel!

Marc Reyes

they have done ksg! a while back.

riley harrington

i would love to see Kevin react to Channel Orange

Amir Yousefizada

Please don't forget Kids See Ghosts when you get there!

Inter Arma

this is absolutely not his most experimental album I'm disappointed Connor

Gustav Ribbholm

The sample digging at the end was super fun. Your dad would appreciate “You Oughta Know” by Dipset.

Colin Ivery

please do sour by Olivia Rodrigo, I know everybody hates it but I really think your dad would really enjoy the talented songwriting and genuine feeling of pain throughout the record considering how young the artist is.

betsinasa

If u guys listened to the new Alicia Keys & Kanye song that'd be a dope bonus on the patreon

Seth Bliley

please do the underrated cudi projects like satellite flight and speedin bullet

bL

Acid Rap???....

FN Code

Dope vid like usual!!! Y’all should most definitely react to either Frank Ocean- Channel Orange or Kid Cudi- Indicud sometime

Ethan

Would love to hear y’all do MF Doom eventually by the way! Especially Madvillainy

Daniel Araya

Life of Pablo will be next. They are going chronologically. Trust me it's my 2nd favorite album so i can't wait

Daniel Mahon

Atrocity Exhibition would be crazy

carsonrissotbb

bad take

Witto

Connor I love you guys. But this is his worst album was when it first came out still is now. Ah 2nd worst after listening with youse.

Daniel Mahon

Since Kevin noticed the Tron reference on I'm In It, and you've already reacted to RAM by Daft Punk, maybe give their Tron Legacy soundtrack a listen at some point? Def not one you need to add to the shortlist but that could be fun

Shems Riza

"Bound 1" was called "Nobody 2 Love" according to one of the producers, I imagine it's called Bound 2 because of the sampled being called just "Bound"

spirit isgodly

after you guys finish Kanye’s discography, I think it’s imperative you upload a full reaction to Kanye & Drake’s “FREE LARRY HOOVER” concert from last December. IT’S BEAUTIFUL. Do it for the Patron’s. 🤙🏾

itchyscrotum

Pls react to asap Rocky or the life of pablo I signed up just bc of your kanye reactions would be dope if you could do one the following month so that I can see it with my one month subscription

Leon Puhl

Tell your dad that was Charlie Wilson on Bound 2. He has a big time career. He is an old singer from the Gap Band

Brian Greene

Cruel Summer?👀

Jose Ibarra

Are you guys planning on maybe listening to an asap record his sampling is amazing and very clean

Evul Crazy

looking forward to this episode ! just signed up today

ConorJ92

Yeah Charlie Wilson was the lead singer of The Gap Band.

Dre Benzi

HIP HOP IS VULGAR YET BEAUTIFUL ARTISTIC EXPRESSION WHEN DONE BY THE GREATS

Brian Greene

Y’all have to do Illmatic. Top 5 hip hop album. Stands up so well today.

Tyler Johnson

what? 😂

Liam Dempsey

Fun fact, one of the main reasons this album exists is because of Tyler the Creator.

Benjamin

MAAN i see you with the faye webster at the start

River Dweller

Teasing us with the Nas and the Wu Tang at the end. If think Kevin would love Illmatic, he gets super into the story-telling songs

Kara

Need another mac reaction

Ikilledkain

Some John Mayer shit like his new album would be so sick

Leo Bridgewater

even though yeezus came out after a lot of the death grips albums that may or may not have influenced it. I’d say it’s pretty decent primer to dive into that group. Maybe a Money Store reaction in the near future? 👀👀👀

Jorge Campos Jr.

Nice taste Ben. His BBC performance is definitely one of my favorite performances ever

Keith Sabolesky

Fuck yeah it would

Keith Sabolesky

bruh can't look in my eyes would be a cool reaction

Shidman

Add me on Xbox so we can play halo. KidsSeeGhst

David Ray

Man you've got to do Watch the Throne. Some of Kanye's best lyricism is on that album. Primetime is an all time Kanye track.

Brandon Manaigo

This album came out When the fashion industry didn’t accept him and Nike wouldn’t give him ownership of his own Yeezy shoe. Everyone kept telling him he was only a musician. This was him expressing his anger and giving everyone the middle finger. He was going to expand beyond just music no matter what. He then signed with Adidas and created an iconic shoe and pushed the boundaries of what a musician or anyone that’s stuck in one area can do. This was the year he had the interview with Sway “You don’t got the answers SWAY!!”

Luis

Open it on your safari browser, I’m assuming you’re in your phone

Jose

Charlie Wilson is the lead singer of the GAP band my guy!

Jose

check out the OG version of blood on the leaves, it's even more intense

Cameron Ackerman

so excited for Bon Iver.. I'm going to see him live soon

Cameron Ackerman

Would love to see J Dilla or Nujabes since you’re interested in samples

Austin Luke

I’m curious what your dad will think of childish gambinos work especially Awaken my love

Alexnader Moises Almonte

You guys should start at reasonable doubt and meet back up with Ye at watch the throne - I think showing your dad some Hov would be great and he’ll get to hear the Kanye production on Blueprint

Sam Gustavson

I really appreciate the “I guess we’ll never know” at the end with a smirk 😂

Alyson White

PLZ DO MELODIC BLUE SOON MY FAV ALBUM OF 2021

Thomas Orifici

I feel like a boomer right now but it’s causing serious anger

aidan kiernan

Why can’t I flip the screen sideways

aidan kiernan

I think my favorite non Kanye hip-hop sample is "Garden of Peace" by Lonnie Listen Smith. Which is looped on Jay Z Dead Presidents

FuzzyDunlop

Hopefully this won’t get drowned out in all the comments (which is amazing to see) but I’d recommend to both of you, especially Kevin, to watch the Blood on the Leaves BBC performance. The end is maybe my favourite single piece of music I’ve heard !! Great vid guys, thanks.

Ben McKevitt

I would loveeee an Isaiah Rashad reaction for sure! My second favorite TDE artist behind Kendrick (and second favorite artist period tbh)

David Dawson

Fellas Charlie Wilson was the lead singer for the GAP Band. Super respected in music. He and snoop have several songs

Carvelle Jones

Love watching your dad slowly turn into a hiphop head lmao

Samuel Warro

You guys ABSOLUTELY MUST continue the Kendrick Lamar catalog... before he drops his new album. It could be a possible earth-shattering music experience!! Do your dad a favor put him on TDE 💯

Victor White

What about Watch The Throne??? WTT sets the tone for Yeezus!! Hope y'all decide to give it a run.. Game changing album 💯

Victor White

My name is connor im here with my sick mf flannel

Jonah Francis

The sample of bound 2 is a song called "Bound", so he probably didn't want to name it the same and of course the word play on "2" "to"

Tupaj Sosa

UNDERPRESSURE LOGICCCCC

Eduardo Avila

I need Ye reaction SOON.

Caleb Thomas

I’d love to hear your dad listen to Big Fish Theory by Vince Staples. I feel like he’d love the production on that album

Grandma NumNums

Y’all should do Trilogy Weeknd

Kyle K

Peter Greene > Lindsay Buckingham

FuzzyDunlop

What are your thoughts on Aesop Rocks Impossible Kid? Might tug at a few heartstrings for your dad. Maybe just a personal listen. Just wanted to pigeon hole it if you get what I mean :)

Charlie Northover

When Kevin trips and says “it’s cus my feet are too big” you should add that into the final edit. Shit had me rolling xD props to him though, put a smile on my face :D

Charlie Northover

I get the feeling Kevin’s favourite will be Pablo

quaxk

:)

Seán Finn

No Watch the Throne?

Jack

Connor didn't want that album to be Kevins introduction to Jay Z..

Dani Fenton

Lupe Fiasco (the goat) wrote Blackkk Skinhead btw

Timothy Payton

You should show him the Yeezus tour?

Nicolas Moya

🍊

TTT

Hey Gage! Sorry bout the switch up.. I will add a few plants for you :) 🌲

TTT

Best Kanye album! Was waiting on this one. My 3 fav songs off of this one are hold my liquor blood in the leaves and new slaves. But honestly every single songs on this is amazing. Except send it up

or muller

You guys skipped watch the throne. That was right after my dark and before yeezus

Steven Avelar

Should do a dad react videos to diff things than music like funny videos

Mike Vasquez

No it definitely is a concept album it legit has a pretty easy to follow narrative running through it the samples follow it the lyrics follow it and Kanye is clearly rapping in character of “Yeezus” there’s a lot more obvious details but I don’t wanna get into the nitty gritty but it’s not just a fan theory I’d recommend checking out the dissect podcast who studies music and breaks down each sample and lyrics and you can see it’s so obvious that it’s all connected as are all of Kanye’s albums

Justaguy

Kanye said he made and released this when he was upset with the fashion industry for trying to block him out.. that’s where the anger comes from in all the sounds… famously said “the only real piece of music I gave you on yeezus was bound 2”

Michael Ciambelli

we also need The Money Store!!!

kumquat

I love you guys no homo

Bryan Ramirez

we need circles!!! <3

kumquat

Run the jewels soon?

Jordan Dias

Do Drunk (album) by Thundercat 😩💦😚

itchyscrotum

Very cool video. I am glad Kevin has expressed that he is not the biggest fan of certain albums, but does it respectfully. You guys also switched positions which fucked me up lol. Still miss the plants, but love the set up. I hope you guys do Pinata, Clippng and Damn or Good Kid Mad City. Those are some of my favorite albums/artists. Little Sims Grey Area is a great album too that I think Kevin would like. When you guys were talking about the samples a cool one is the Michael jackson PYT sample on Good Life by Kanye West.

Gage Ignota

Just wanted to say I joined Patreon just for this video as well lol ive been waiting for this one

Braden Corbin

you have to show your dad the blood on the leaves live performance... gives me goosebumps everytime

Sunny Joshi

Please ignore anyone saying Yeezus is a concept album lmao. Of course you can interpret it that way, but it’s nothing more than a Youtube/Reddit fan theory. The album was cut to 10 tracks by Rick Rubin last minute so maybe it was originally intended to be more conceptual, but Kanye has never explicitly spoken about it.

Nick

same lmao

Robert Gonzalez

"Is Yeezus Loud?" "Its uhhh a little loud"

Aidan Nugent

joined the patreon just to see this

Teodor Eliasson

"King Louie was shot in the head a few years back and has been quiet on the music scene ever since. " man I know this was a serious post and all but that fucking made me laugh too hard man.

Aj Heath

ITS FINALLY HERE IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS DAY

sean ryan

eventually yes

TTT

Kevin's stomach drumming was worth every dollar (& then some) of my Patreon subscription

Dani Fenton

Omg finally. Kept refreshing the YouTube page waiting for this.

Ben Singleton

Stop teasing with that Illinois

Waltner _

Looks like Yeezus took Kev by surprise hahaha. Opening with On Sight. Theres a clip of Kanye saying the album would be received a lot different if he led with Bound or Blood on the Leaves... That On Sight joint tho, as well as every other song on this album, grows on you heavy after a few listens thru. All the love for you guys!

yabskee

Need a react/discussion vid after listening to the Dissect szn (and/or WTT pod) for this album.

Bob Specht

Can't wait for TLOP

SoupyTurtle

Someone didn’t watch the whole video 😅

CRASH

Upvoting this for visibility. Was hoping daft punk’s involvement would’ve been mentioned.

CRASH

Hello from Wales, UK 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 this is honestly the best videos on YouTube period. So fun to watch and choice of albums throughout are absolutely spot on 🔥 would love to hear a reaction to good kid mad city and views, think Kevin would love the sound quality and production in both albums 🔥 keep doing what you are doing guys!

Laurie Haworth

If you really wanna blow Kevin’s cock off, show him the last 30 seconds of Kanye’s new workout plan and then play him j cole’s work out :) This is always my go to for showing people how sampling can work.

CRASH

1:08:20 Now this is the content we pay for. Kevin absolutely killing some hamboning!! Great build up to this album Connor

Tyler Peterson

i told myself i wouldn't spend money on patreon but here i am

Liam Dempsey

I also think Because The Internet is a great follow up to this. Came out around the same time too.

Dan Walker

Interesting what your dad said about the cutting of the album. Probably already got mentioned but Daft Punk have credits on loads of the songs here, apparently Kanye brought in Rick Rubin to help him cut the album down and the original version was three and a half hours long. He famously called Rubin "not a producer, he's a reducer" in the Zane Lowe interview. Show your dad too the famous image from when they are making MBDTF when Kanye has all the signs up in Hawaii in the studio behind him, I think he'd love that picture

Dan Walker

Awesome content. Are you guys going to be doing Is This It as a full reaction?

Max Martz

I was so excited to see Kevin's reaction to Blood on the Leaves, so glad you enjoyed it!!!

Vivienne Hogan

I always forget how much I love the outro to New Slaves. The whole song is great, but that outro always makes me ascend.

Isaac

The album follows Ye aka Yeezus as he looks for love in clubs and keeps getting used by women until he finds Kim at the end on bound 2. He got married the same year this album dropped btw

Tre

Ready for the Bon Iver album sitting back there!

Ryan (WaveReact)

can't wait for the life of pablo, so many great tracks

sagdish

Every Kanye album is a depiction of his life at the moment. At this point in time Ye was trying to get on in the fashion industry and the white higher ups in the industry wouldn’t allow him to do that. Nike wouldn’t give him a deal for his shoe he made for them that made them a shit ton of money and he barely got shit for it. Later on in 2015 adidas actually gave Kanye the chance and the rest is history he’s not the richest black man in American history because of it.

Tre

King Louie is one if the originators of Chicago drill music, Kanye seeked out Chief Keef and King Louie purposely because he wanted to incorporate drill music (which was brand new at the time). King Louie had a solid independent career but things went down south once Drake never fulfilled his promise to sign King L to OVO. King L even got the OVO owl tattooed on his face and everything. King Louie was shot in the head a few years back and has been quiet on the music scene ever since.

Shaquan WP

I NEED YOU TO KNOW YEEZUS IS A NARRATIVE ALBUM. You should watch Watching The Throne podcast or Dissect Podcast about it. Watching the throne goes really in depth and brought the narrative to the light

Tre

aw love u lots too Kevin

Emma Rooney

very cool to see you get all excited when your dad would perk up lol keep it up

spod823

The guitar at the end of hold my liquor is Mike Dean btw! Unreal outro.

solobarro

They need to see some Jay Z solo album first before WTT

Razer Droid

How come you skipped WATCH THE THRONE?

Nathan Ivor Barlow

indicud please...

Tim Bennett

Was looking forward to this being watch the throne

Fisher

Can’t wait for Bon Iver

Tyler

I believe the idea behind the album cover is that it's a farewell to the format of CD. paying homage to that era.

Nathan Ivor Barlow

“Was he on acid?” Lol. Kevin would shit his pants listening to acid rain for the first time.

Brock

I’m so excited for this. Been waiting for this ever since the first video when Kevin loved MBDTF.

Keith Sabolesky

I agree..

Nathan Ivor Barlow

Another cool curiosity about Bound 2 and a boy is a gun is that besides sampling the same music, the original Bound 1 was also produced by Tyler the Creator. And The Weeknd played Bound 1 in a recent episode from his radio station (Memento Mori Ep. 18, 32 minutes).

Daniel

bro..u had no idea how long i waited for this..i literally bought the patreon for 2 months now for this reason and never looked back!...cant wait for when we get to ye! -with im in it...kanyes just always horney - charlie wilson was actually a pretty old, respected singer...its just just kanye tends to utilize alot of old singers or one hit wonders type artist for courses and stuff in his albums

ZaNe CuDi

That's the live show not the album

jeff smith

Watch the Throne?

Luke Mullaney

Let's go!

JESSE

The first time I heard this album was my first MDMA trip. I fell in love and went back to see Ye's old discography. This album holds a special place in my heart even though its not my favorite Ye record anymore.

Victor Erickson

SICK of your lies Connor ! 😝 xx

Jon Scanlon

I know it’s a little different than the majority of your stuff but god I would LOVE a reaction to the new black country new road LP

Liam johnston

Kinda lit

Lassikko

hahaha fuck ya kevin with the number 5 hoodie!! #ifykyk

Van City Pal

Yeezus is 100% a grower. Think about it as if it was an opera or a Shakespeare play. Its a comedic tragedy. On sight opens up with a grand sound and throughout the album we get scenes black skinned head with the lead characters first real broad and loud appearance. We get a look into his beliefs in new laves and we learn his weaknesses in hold my liquor. Blood on the leaves is a confession of love and how easy it can be lost. The next two tracks lead to fixing wrongs in a comedic fashion and bound2 is it’s beautiful tragic ending.

anthony mccaffrey

“That’s Frank? … But there’s drums” Perfect

Tim P

Seeing you guys vibe out to the end of "Hold My Liquor" was everything. Haha

Christian Herrera

got my first speeding ticket listening to blood on the leaves

William D. Kilpatrick

Connor, you did not even mention how it was a protest against music and the industry at the time (He'll give us what we need, it may not be what we want). I am about to write a whole thinkpiece in every DM inbox you have

C

A Skinny Puppy comparison? Just when I thought I couldn’t like y’all more. You’re like the Kanye West of outdoing yourself.

Tim P

This.the context around this album add so much to the epic-ness

Jay The Cyborg

i cant wait for pablo

Kizzy

Connor you do a great job lowkey queing when an important part comes up your father should get ready for

anthony mccaffrey

been waiting for this. This is my personal fav Ye album, and was from day 1. I just love how quick and aggressive it is. Endlessly replayable

Mitch Hayes

Also can y’all react to Love Sosa, or Finally Rich as a whole, so that Kevin can experience 16 year old Sosa in his full glory :)

Colungga

Charlie Wilson is from the gap band I’m sure Kevin will recognize him from that.

Jay The Cyborg

My favorite part about hold my liquor is the very ending with the windshield wipers going. It gives you driving in the rain after a conflict filled night

anthony mccaffrey

1:29:35 yeah Yeezus was originally like 3 hours long until Rick Rubin helped cut it down so maybe the original was a lot more cohesive

Colungga

The album is divided in 5 acts: fighting, rising, falling, searching and finding.

Ariel Deleon

Loved this one. 22, A Million ... please

Ron LaFlamme

is that a big CD or just two very small guys?

Luke Bechtel

You guys NEED to do Channel Orange

ItsMajorBro

The main sample that Kanye used in Bound 2 is from Bound by Ponderosa Twins Plus One. Tyler later went and sampled it for A BOY IS A GUN off of IGOR (the vocal snippet that goes "started with a mere hello" and a little bit extra after that). Also Charlie Wilson was originally the lead singer of The Gap Band.

James

my best friend from high school passed away a couple years ago, him and I sat and listened to this together in school and bought tickets for the tour as soon as they were available. the concert was just as amazing as the album. watching kevins reactions brought me back to how we felt when we heard this. i appreciate you guys so much. thank you for helping relive memories like that. (side note: i cannot wait for connor to finally show his dad Faces, it's my favourite project of all time and I think Kevin would love the lyrical aspect of the album)

Nick Dunnington

I could be wrong, but I want to say at the time of this album, I think he was trying to break into high fashion. Yeezus was in part his frustration, middle finger, F*** you, I'm gonna tear the establishment down, and watch what Im capable of, to the high class fashion gatekeepers who only saw him as a "black rapper" that wouldn't give him a seat at the table. He broke down the doors...

yabskee

“some slavic language”… cries in finno-ugric hungarian😔

Leon O’Brien

Guilt Trip saved my life 🙏

Colungga

Your dad needs to watch the Zane Lowe interview to get the full understanding of the album. I don’t think there’s ever been a interview that feels more like a companion piece than that interview

Jonathan Payeras

Yesssir

Caleb Morris

steam is DerplesThePanda for halo always down to queue up

Tristan Guerrero

*fully understand. Of course you know the basics, probably more than the average person given your background and understanding of music, but the dichotomy between the two acts is so unique in hip hop.

Ezra Haskard

Kev, your appreciation for sampling has wholly convinced me that once you hear Pinata or Madvillainy you’ll understand the symbiotic relationship between a rapper and a producer. Most albums you guys have reacted to so far have been largely self produced, but these two albums will divide your perception of hip hop. In hip hop more than most genres producers can often be as famous, if not more than the rappers they work with as you guys reach newer albums you’ll begin to recognize some the top producers through producer tags, and soon a tagline at the beginning of a song from a producer you like will feel the same as hearing Cudis heartwarming vocalizations. You’re only on the tip of the iceberg, and I can’t wait for you to see what lies deeper. Especially exited for you to hear Madlib’s production. I truly love both MF Doom and Freddie Gibbs, but I am immeasurably excited for you to hear the musical genius who is Madlib. In terms of production done by a single man, he’s unmatched, and in terms of teams of producers culminating on an album, you guys haven’t even scratched the surface. Excited to watch your journey of discovery.

Ezra Haskard

i remember when this album came out i was a freshmen in high school. i can vouch that this album sent shockwaves throughout the rap community. i hated the whole vibe of the album at first but it grows on you.

Alex

I bought the patreon just so I could hear Kevin’s reaction. Have you thought about showing him Burden of Proof by Benny the Butcher?

Gavin Carey 2.0

seeing connor's face watching kevin during the beginning of on sight killed me lmaoooo

Christian Summersill

very cool

aesc

Kevin- what are your thoughts on ‘Guilt Trip’ somewhat sampling ‘Fly Like An Eagle’ by Steve Miller Band?? I always hear the similarity and I love both tracks so much.

Bree Patino

this is an album that definitely grows on people, it did for me. also fun note: daft punk helped produce On Sight, Black Skinhead, and I am a God!

Aiden Woodworth

this is the best thing that has ever happened to me

C

This record has kind of an interesting storyline in it, check out middle8's videos on it, and also a dissect video on the sample use on this record, it's very interesting. Also also, Daft Punk made On Sight's intro hellscape of sounds, fun fact for you Kevin.

Love this album, my personal favourite Kanye album and a great gateway to experimental hip-hop. I hope you guys end up doing All My Heroes Are Cornballs. Would love to hear Kevin's thoughts on the production of that album. Also one of clipping.'s last two albums would be pretty funny to watch too.

James

King Louie is one of the founders of the Chicago Drill sound, he's definitely up there with Chief Keef if you like that sound.

Dane

Loved the reaction to Blood on the Leaves, one of my fav hip hop songs of all time.

TylerNorCal

King Louie is an early drill Chicago staple that I believe met Kanye through the Don't Like remix. Drilluminati tapes are probably the most well known but unless you're into drill they're nothing crazy.

Chess Malone

Wow, you guys react to my favorite album on my birthday. Lfg

Caleb Littleton

Js cuz it’s such a massive album I think he’d love

sbreaux

Damn you missed Watch the Throne

sbreaux

im gonna cry

Cole

JUST BECAME A PATRON FOR THIS SO HYPED LETS GOOO

Qutairu

This is my favorite album. Perfect from top to bottom. Kanye was mad as fuck during the making of this, he was trying to get established in fashion and seen as a 'designer' but he was being treated as a 'rapper', hence his response: I AM A GOD. IIRC this was the beginning of the 'public ranting' phase. It was also at the start of his relationship with Kim. This article sets the context pretty well IMO: https://www.wmagazine.com/story/kanye-west-on-kim-kardashian-and-his-new-album-yeezus This shit cracks me up: Jenner’s rapport with West evinces equal parts jokey affection and in-law awkwardness. He plays her some of his unfinished songs, including “Awesome,” which is clearly about Kim. When she exclaims, “Great job!” West doesn’t find it as flattering as Jenner evidently intended. He raises his eyebrows. “Great job?” he says and sets off on a comic riff that cracks up everyone in the room. Toasting with his champagne glass, he says, “Great job, Baccarat, for making a glass that can hold liquid!” He looks down at his waist. “Great job, belt loops, for keeping my pants up!” Jenner laughs off the mockery but soon is ready to leave.

You should've filled Kevin in on all the shit that was happening with Kanye at the time, like all the interviews, ads Just like Ariel above me said. It really paints a picture of what was going through Kanye's mind at the time.

Dane

One step closer to Pablo let's go

Nico C

The rollout for this album was amazing, the new slaves projections across different cities, the american psycho ads, the breakfast club interview, sway in the morning interview, zane lowes interview, his rants against the fashion industry and nike, and his snl performance

I’d rather not have to wait longer to get to Donda. Those albums are amazing But focusing on Kanye’s actual solo albums is a better idea it does better with views (cruel summer is barely recognized as a Kanye project and WTT is similarly underrated and isn’t a considered main Kanye album.)

It’s finally here!
