This is the album that got me into Kanye. So many workouts done with Graduation at 100% volume, probably horrible for my ears but great for the mind and body. This and the next stretch of albums are my favorite in Kanye's discography. Graduation is just great from top-to-bottom with the exception of Drunk and Hot Girls and maybe Barry Bonds, but they don't get skipped when I play the album, so it's not like I hate 'em.

OK, I actually have a dissertation prepared in defense of “drunk and hot girls” lol, bear with me. I think Kanye here is describing the very unique yet repetitive situation of going out with your entourage, where the objective is to get laid. He consolidates this experience with a fairly detailed description of how a typical night goes. The power struggle between both sides trying to achieve an objective. The loose but forced responsibility to care for someone mildly inebriated. The annoyance at their lack of personal responsibility in that interaction, all while trying to maintain control and get to the target. I think Kanye recognizes the activity in general as one of the vices of the lifestyle, and then he further projects onto the women the struggle, almost pointing a finger at them as the obstacle when in reality, underlying this entire song is the dynamic that he is recognizing as toxic, but in true can you fashion, he points to them as a scapegoat. Even if that’s not how he feels personally, it is a very typical sentiment that man in the situations express. This sounds to me like a man realizing that this lifestyle is unhealthy for him, and he gets nothing out of it, even if it gets him laid occasionally. It sounds like someone trying to reject this aspect of the lifestyle, almost reminding himself that they are not worth it, the time, the energy, anything, while resisting taking personal responsibility for his role in the dynamic.

Drunk and Hot Girls is musically great imo, lyrically it's iffy, but it is on purpose to exemplify the progression of how fame is affecting Kanye over the years. I won't go so far to call him humble on TCD or LR, but drunk and hot girls is a peak of megalomania and giving in to celebrity status. It's Kanye portraying his darkest thoughts and feelings of fame taking over who he once was. I think it does a great job showing how quickly things go to your head and destroy who you were. On Homecoming he shows how the way he's changed means he's not even accepted by Chicago anymore, they don't claim him. It's really an album of how he can't handle where he's at.
