Seraph Of The End: Omega - Chapter 1
Added 2023-10-21 00:37:06 +0000 UTCSo this is another of my stories that unfortunately puttered out that I'm gonna upload here for you guys.
_______________
"Taiyou-kun?" the voice of one of the orphanage matrons spoke up.
You paused while in the middle of playing through your Nintendo DS and looked up, "Yes?" you asked, though you already knew what was coming and merely wanted an extra few seconds of time. You selected Blast Burn with your Charizard to quickly finish off the opposing trainers final pokemon.
The kindly looking brown haired woman smiled, a chart held against her chest, "It's time for your tests again today." she said.
You nodded, "The same today as always then?" you asked. Generally, every day they took samples of your blood, injected you with some weird syringe and then had you running through a bunch of physical exercises.
"Actually, no," she shook her head, kind and warm - fake - smile not wavering at all, in fact it grew much wider, "We have a special guest here to see you today."
"Really?" you raised an eyebrow, interested. And quickly, you ended the battle and saved, folding the small gaming console in half.
"Indeed, she's a very special girl and she's very interested in how you are progressing these days." the matron replied.
Well, alright then. No need to keep whoever this girl was waiting you supposed. You placed the gaming console down and hopped to your feet, following behind the orphanage matron through the halls of the Hyakuya Orphanage.
Many of the other orphans on the way stopped the matron to speak to her and ask things, seeking attention like the children they were.
Personally though, you'd never really felt the need to grasp for the attention of the adults. For as long as you could remember, you'd been put through your paces. By time you could walk, you were already studying and doing basic exercises and even learning martial arts and how to fight.
You'd never felt any parental affection, and you didn't really feel a desire for it like all the other orphans did. You did as asked and in return, whenever you wanted something, you generally got it.
And the quicker you went through what the adults wanted, the sooner you could return to your room and play your games.
You were led down to the basement. And from there, the matron pulled a small card form her pocket. It looked much like a credit or bank card, but was wholly different.
For one, it was a key.
She slid it down through a small crack in the wall and as usual, the wall pulled apart a moment later to reveal a white tiled hallways that led to a large stairway. At the top of the stairs, two tall, muscular men in dark uniforms stood, rifles held on their shoulders.
This was the sub base laboratory. And, as far as you were aware, you were the only orphan at the Hyakuya Orphanage that knew of its existence. Oh, you were not the only one that got taken down, you were merely the only one that didn't get put into a drug induced haze and forced to forget everything that happened.
The matron beckoned you to follow her, and you did. You followed her to the stairs and right down them, not sparing the two guards a further glance.
At the bottom of the stairs, it opened up into many branching paths and hallways filled with doors, many of them small lab rooms where experiments were being conducted. And you knew there was a holding area with cells as well.
You expected to be led to one of the observation rooms, or perhaps the main lab. You were rather surprised though, when you were led to the exercise area and bid to enter, the matron waiting at the door and not following you.
Odd, but you shrugged it off. You didn't really care.
You entered the room, not sparing a glance as the door was shut behind you and entered a large square room filled with training equipment. Weight benches, rowing machines, pull up bars, treadmills and so on so forth. And in the center of the room there was a sparring ring, a sparring ring with a person in the middle.
An older girl with long purple hair and wearing a school uniform of some sort. A wide cheerful smile was on her face and she happily waved at you when you looked at her, "Hiya Taiyou-kun~!" she cheerfully greeted you.

She knew your name, yet you did not know her.
Well, that was something to be expected you supposed. Why would you be brought to meet this girl down here if she didn't know what was going on, or know anything about you.
"Hello." you replied blandly.
"Mou, not the talkative type, huh?" she pouted and then shook her head, "Not cool. I know too many people like that."
Well...she certainly seemed energetic.
"Oh well, I'm used to it," she shrugged and gave a laugh. "Why don't you come on over here Taiyou-kun?"
Well, best get this over and done with quickly. You did as asked and made your way over to the sparring ring, hopping in to it and waited for her to speak.
"Y'know, you'll never get a girlfriend trying to act all cool and serious, it doesn't make you look as cool as you think it does." she pointed out. And you really didn't understand. What did you being quiet have to do with you getting a girlfriend? Besides;
"I'm only seven." you replied with a roll of your eyes.
"Not an excuse, I fell in love at 5!" she crossed her arms under her chest and nodded proudly, boastfully.
"Okay?" you raised an eyebrow, unimpressed, "Who are you anyway?"
"Fufu! I'm so glad you asked, Taiyou-kun!" she clapped her hands and winked at you. She then spun on her feet, her skirt flaring up dangerously high and came to face you again two fingers spread over her right eye in a v-shape, "It's me, everybody's hero Hiragi Mahiru-chan! And I'm here to test how good you are in a fight!"
So you were just sparring then? Well, okay. You'd sparred plenty of times before. But you frowned as you looked her over from foot to head. She just looked like a teenage girl. You had beaten up grown men before in this very ring. Would this be okay?
Mahiru gasped at your look over her and crossed her arms over her chest, hiding it from you, "Oh no! It looks like my super good looks and huge boobs have seduced another one!" she dramatically cried, "But I'm sorry Taiyou-kun! I already have a lover! Oh, and a fiance now that I think about it!"
"..Can we just fight now?" you groaned. You couldn't keep up with this girl at all.
Suddenly, she was just gone from your vision and you felt hot breath on the back of your neck, "Well if you want to Taiyou-kun~" you heard the girl sing song from behind you.
You made to turn on instinct, only for a fist to smash into your cheek and send you flying through the air, hard.
It hurt. It hurt a lot. You ignored it though.
You spun with the momentum that lifted you into the air and oriented yourself, lashing out to stamp both of your feet into the ring and skid yourself to a halt.
Mahiru hadn't moved again though, she just stood there, hands clasped behind her back and a wide smile on her face.
Something warm and wet trickled down from your nose. You didn't need to feel it to see what it was. Your nose was gushing blood.
How annoying.
She was fast, too fast. You hadn't even seen her move. And she'd managed to turn while doing it to get behind you.
That was not humanly possible. But then, even a fool could figure out you were not entirely humanly possible either.
You shot forward towards her, ignoring the throbbing of your cheek and the gushing red of your nose.
You jumped towards her leading with a punch a straight haymaker, putting all your strength behind it. She tilted to the side and avoided it easily.
As expected, and what you were aiming for. The force of your blow gave enough momentum for you to spin and launch a kick at her chin. "Oh?" she raised her eyebrows even as she easily caught your foot in one hand.
You fell forward, catching yourself on your hands and spun again. You couldn't rip your foot form her grasp, but that was fine, it made it perfect to lash out with your other foot.
Yet she caught that one as well.
Huffing in annoyance, you pushed up off of the mat, throwing your torso up and torqued your self to the side and lashed out with a punch now that her hands were occupied.
It was too slow though. She let go of your feet and stopped your punch with one finger, halting you right there in mid-air. And then her shoe clad foot smashed into your spine and propelled you forward.
You ignored the pain and caught yourself on your hands and feet on all fours. But as soon as you did, a hand wound its way into your hair and you were smashed face first into the floor of the sparring ring.
Stars erupted in your vision. You ignored it and tried to push up with all your strength. But then pain assaulted your skull as the hand in your hair smashed your face into the ground over and over again.
On the fifth time, Mahiru let go of your hair and let you collapse into a groaning heap.
"Hmm, you're not bad y'know?" Mahiru hummed as you lay there in a pain induced daze, your face feeling like it was beaten to slush, "Your physical abilities are progressing nicely, almost like mine at that age and you're quite skilled, and you have amazing battle instinct, when things really get going you might just be able to make a difference."
What was she on about? This girl really made no sense. "What are you talking about?" you asked, not bothering to move at all and ignoring the throbbing pain all over your pace, particularly your nose, you think it may have been broken, but it was barely worth paying attention to, you'd had worse through the experiments you were put through, "Make a difference how?"
A weight suddenly settled on your back, and from the warmth and round shape, you could tell she had sat on your back, "Hmm, I wonder?" she giggled, "..Well, let's just say that not long from now, the world is going to change a lot and humans are going to find it very hard to survive."
Again, she made no sense. She was alluding to some threat to humanity, but she was far too vague for you to make heads or tails of it. Only, that you had some role to play in it all.
"...Get off of me you weirdo." you settled on saying.
"Don't be such a cherry boy Taiyou-kun!" you heard the put upon pout in her voice again, "I mean look at this, you've gotten to second base with a hot busty older girl, you should be proud and trying to see how far you can get with me."
"Again, I'm seven," you rolled your eyes, you would not feel proper sexual desire for a good few years yet, "Besides, did you not say you had a lover already...and and fiance. How does that work out anyway? Are they one and the same? Are you some female polygamist or are you having an affair?" you saw plenty of things like this within your games and anime.
"Mm, I guess you could call it an affair? Really though, my fiance was picked for me by my family, I don't love him like that. I only love my lover, Guren, he's such a stud you know? No matter how hard he gets beaten down or shown how weak he is, he always gets back up and fights even harder, he's so cool," Mahiru sighed dreamily, "You should try learning that from him. You'll be a hit with proper beautiful heroines like me and it'll let you continue on when things get hard."
....So he was some wannabe shonen protagonist then?
You didn't bother replying. There was no point to it. You didn't understand one bit what this girl was going on about. But, you'd take the implication of her statement into consideration.
Things were going to get hard, very hard. And only those with the will to get back up and push forward would apparently be the ones to be able to live and make a difference.
It could all be some fantasy of a crazy girl, but, there was definitely something fishy going on. Her speed, her strength, her reflexes, the casual way she dealt with your attacks and how brutally she attacked you when you were down. Even with your narrow world view, you knew there had to be something big behind a being like her.
"Ne, Taiyou-kun," Miharu spoke up again after a moment of silence, "Do you ever get tired of just sitting around doing what you're told? Taking part in these experiments, training your body and living your life at the behest of others?"
"It annoys me that I have to sit here listening to you," you replied with a roll of your eyes, drawing a giggle of amusement from the girl atop you, "...I have little thought on it. I am still a child, I am still immature despite how different I am to other children, despite how strong I am for my age and my intelligence. As it is though, If I did not get what I wanted out of this, I am quite sure I would entertain rebelling against them. I have already formulated a plan to escape this place should that come to pass."
You got your games, your anime, and whatever else you desired for the most part, and those were made what your life entertaining and fun. If they were to be taken from you, then you saw no point to being here and submitting to these experiments. Even now, you were very aware that you were far superior to even many of the adults here. You had stolen the equipment of a guard a year back, a bayonet knife, a pistol and a rifle, and hidden them within a small section you'd made under your bed, alongside a growing nest egg of yen.
"Mmm, is that so?" Mahiru hummed again, rocking back and forth on your back, pressing her butt down onto you and squishing you against the floor harder, "So, would you say you have a reason to live?"
A reason to live, huh? "Probably," you pursed your lips as you thought on that. Did you have a reason to live? "I...I just want what I want, is that not reason enough?" what else was there to live for?
Mahiru was silent for a moment, "..It's a start, and probably for the best," she replied idly, "But you haven't lived until you've felt that burning emotion running in your veins. Felt your heart beat so hard and fast it feels like it will break right through your chest. That emotion that will drive you to the most beautiful of heights and yet will have you delving into the deepest depths of darkness and committing atrocities that even the most monstrous of monsters would stare at you in a horrified awe."
The way she spoke so fondly, so lovingly, in such an enraptured way of this emotion, was interesting. You had to admit, it had your interest, "And what emotion is that?" you asked.
Mahiru giggled, "It's love silly!"
Ah. You supposed that would be it.
"Then if that is the qualification for a reason to live, then I don't have it," you replied with a sigh, "I have never loved anyone, nor have I ever had anyone love me. I have been alone since the very beginning."
The weight suddenly disappeared from your back and you felt yourself get hoisted up, "That's so sad," Mahiru replied, a pout on her face that you could now see as she turned you around in her grip to face you, "And it really won't do. You'll be able to control a demon easily with that lack of desire, but oh little King Of The Sun, without that love to push you, you won't be able to protect this world."
...There she went again, talking about nonsensical things that made no sense. What demons? They did not exist, they were mere myth. And why would the protection of the world be on your shoulders?
More importantly though, King Of The Sun. Why did she call you that? And why did it sound almost right to you?
She set you down on your feet as you stared at her confused and then she ruffled your hair, "You're special you know?" the purple haired girl said softly, a warm smile on her face, "You were born with a destiny far greater than most others."
Somehow, as you looked at her warm smile, you felt your cheeks heat up, to the point where you could feel it through the throbbing pain in them there already, "...What are you talking about you weirdo?" you grunted, looking to the side.
Mahiru giggled, "Aw, you're all embarrassed, that's cute," she giggled, before sobering lightly, "What I mean though, is you were born to oppose God."
...Now God was involved?
Suddenly her hand was fisted into the back of your hair again. But unlike before, her grip was gentle and pulled your into her chest, your face pressing into her bosom.
She was not lying. Her breasts were quite large and soft. You supposed there actually was something to all those anime males becoming stupid over them.
"It's alright though, you're still young, and the world will open up to you a lot in the coming days," she whispered in your ear, her words came out like a soothing lullaby, and you felt your eyelids get heavy, "I'm sure one day you'll find that feeling yourself. Just don't fall for me kay? I'm a bad bad girl after all."
She pressed a soft kiss atop your forehead, and then a warm darkness overtook you, and all you saw was darkness.
You would wake up in your bed later, all of your injuries mysteriously gone and Hiragi Mahiru nowhere to be seen.
But, that would not be the final time you saw her.
